TAMPA, Fla. - Making its first trip to the Sunshine State in two years, the Boston University men's basketball team will visit South Florida on Saturday night as part of the Basketball Hall of Fame Classic with the ESPN3 broadcast set for 7 p.m.
The matchup marks the second contest of a five-game road trip for the Terriers (1-2), who are coming off Thursday's 90-76 defeat at NJIT. South Florida (0-3) has lost all three of its contests this season at home by a combined 14 points, including a 73-67 defeat to George Washington on Thursday.
On Monday, the Bulls dropped a 60-57 decision to NJIT, while BU posted a 69-64 victory over Albany, who will be visiting the Sun Dome on Monday as part of the Basketball Hall of Fame Classic.
TERRIER TIDBITS
• BU was selected third in the Patriot League preseason poll after returning everyone for the second time in three years ... In 2013-14, the Terriers posted the second-most wins in program history (24) and claimed their first conference regular season title in a decade.
• The Terriers last went on a five-game road trip in the 2007-08 season ... They opened with a win against Yale and head coach Joe Jones' older brother, James, before dropping four straight contests.
• BU has used the same lineup all three games, while USF has tried a different one each game.
• Senior John Papale, sophomore Cheddi Mosely and freshman Kyle Foreman have combined for 29 of BU's 35 3-pointers ... The Terriers rank 13th nationally in made treys per game at 11.7.
• Papale has earned back-to-back 21-point performances after reaching 20+ points a combined two times his first three years ... He is averaging a team-high 18.0 ppg while shooting 50.0 percent from the field ... He ranks third at BU all-time in career treys (206) and needs 63 more points to reach 1,000.
• The reigning PL Rookie of the Week Foreman is shooting a team-high 58.1 percent from the field to average 15.7 ppg while also averaging a team-high 6.3 apg.
• Two sophomores have scored career highs already this season ... Nick Havener tallied nine points against Northeastern, and Will Goff posted 11 points at NJIT.
• Opponents are averaging 9.3 more made free throws per game than the Terriers and are out-rebounding BU by 5.3 rebounds per game.
• Sophomore Cheddi Mosely (11.7 ppg) and senior Nathan Dieudonne (11.3 ppg) are the other two BU players in double-figure scoring ... Dieudonne leads BU in rebounding at 6.3 rpg.
• In the loss to NJIT, the Highlanders shot 47.8 percent ... The Terriers have dropped their last 18 games when an opponent reaches the 45-percent threshold ... BU's last win came against American during the regular season in 2014 when the Eagles shot 46.0 percent and still lost 71-62.
SCOUTING USF
• The Bulls were selected to finish 10th in the 11-team AAC preseason poll after returning three starters and seven total returnees from last year's 9-23 squad ... They are looking for their first postseason bid since reaching the NCAAs in 2012.
• USF went 8-9 at home last season and will try to avoid an 0-4 start this year ... The Bulls led Troy by 14 and NJIT by 15, respectively, in the first half before falling to both teams to open the season.
• Highlighted by 22 offensive rebounds against GW, USF is averaging 46.0 rpg and owns a positive 5.0 rebound margin ... The Terriers are at 34.0 rpg and -5.3, respectively.
• The Bulls are shooting 36.8 percent from the field and are holding teams to 38.3 FG% ... They are also averaging 7.3 bpg while turning the ball over 18 times a contest.
• USF has four men averaging double figure scoring ... 6-foot-0 guard Jahmal McMurray leads the way at 17.3 ppg, while 6-foot-8 forward Chris Perry is nearly averaging a double-double at 10.3 ppg and 9.7 rpg.
SERIES HISTORY
• South Florida leads the all-time series, 2-1, with all three games taking place in Tampa.
• USF won, 92-81, on Jan. 3, 1976 and followed up with a 67-61 win on Dec. 27, 1981.
• The Terriers eventually got revenge at the 1996 USF Christmas Tournament ... They first defeated Loyola Maryland and then topped the Bulls, 65-49, to win the trophy ... BU went on to a school-record 25 wins and No. 12 seed at the NCAA tournament.

• The Terriers will remain on the road and end the Basketball Classic at No. 2 Kentucky on Tuesday (Nov. 24) at 9 p.m. on the SEC Network.
• BU last visited the famed Rupp Arena one year ago ... 2015 All-PL honoree Cedric Hankerson tallied 24 points against the No. 1 Wildcats, who only led 40-35 at the half and 66-57 at 8:29 before pulling away.
