BOSTON - Continuing a two-game homestand, the Boston University men's basketball team will host Loyola Maryland on Saturday at Agganis Arena with tip-off slated for 1 p.m. Both squads are entering the contest in a four-way tie for fourth in the Patriot League standings.
The Terriers (10-14, 6-7 PL) will play their third game in six days after claiming a 74-60 road win at Lafayette on Monday and dropping a hard-fought 76-69 decision to PL co-leader Colgate on Wednesday. The Greyhounds (10-14, 6-7 PL), also put on a dominating performance against the Leopards earlier this week, posting a 62-43 home win on Wednesday.
Loyola will try to become the second team to earn a sweep over BU this season after an earlier 91-86 overtime win back on Jan. 18. The Terriers led by seven with under three minutes to go, but a poor free throw shooting performance in regulation (13-31) allowed the Greyhounds to send the contest to overtime and eventually claim the win.
TERRIER TIDBITS
• BU ranks first in scoring offense in conference games only at 70.4 ppg but ranks ninth in scoring defense at 69.9 ppg with a fourth-ranked scoring margin of +0.5 ... The Terriers are shooting 46.3 percent (3rd) while holding teams to 45.1 FG% (5th).
• One of the biggest issues for the Terriers during conference play has been turnovers ... BU ranks 10th in turnover margin at -1.7 in PL action ... On Wednesday, Colgate outscored BU off turnovers, 18-7, to claim the 76-69 win ... The Raiders only had six miscues in the contest compared to BU's 12.
• The Terriers rank first in the conference in made 3-pointers per game at 8.0 while Loyola ranks last at 5.2.
• Sophomore Eric Fanning continued his strong offensive play in conference play with 19 points against Colgate ... He ranks sixth in scoring at 15.0 ppg and 11 in shooting at 54.8 FG%.
• Junior Nathan Dieudonne posted his seventh career double-double on Wednesday with 10 points and 10 rebounds ... It was his first one ever at home ... He had one earlier against Loyola (11p, 14r) ... Ranks second in the PL in rebounding at 7.6 rpg.
• Freshman Cheddi Mosely tallied a season-high 23 points against the Greyhounds in the first meeting ... He drained three 3-pointers against Colgate to finish with 10 points ... He is the No. 2 leading freshman scorer in PL-only games at 10.8 ppg, just behind Loyola's Andre Walker (11.2 ppg).
• Sophomore Cedric Hankerson ranks fourth in the PL with a team-high average of 15.8 ppg ... He ranks 12th in assists at 2.5 apg and second in steals at 1.8 spg.
• Junior John Papale had five assists against just one turnover on Wednesday and has pushed his assist-turnover ratio to 3.1, well above the current school-record of 2.7 ... Ranks sixth in the PL in assists at 3.7 apg and 12 in 3-point shooting at 38.2 3FG%.
• Junior Justin Alston went 6-of-8 for 14 points against Colgate ... He is shooting an impressive 61.2 percent in conference games, best in the PL ... Also ranks in a three-way tie for fourth in rebounding at 6.8 rpg, just behind Loyola's Cam Gregory (7.3 rpg).
SCOUTING LOYOLA MARYLAND
• The Greyhounds are 3-9 on the road (6-5 at home) with wins at Columbia (64-62), Lehigh (65-60) and Army (77-71) ... Lost by one to PL co-leader Colgate (59-58).
• Loyola ranks ninth in the PL in scoring offense at 59.2 ppg but ranks fourth in scoring defense at 66.3 ppg ... Greyhounds are the only team to be shooting below 40 percent at 38.6 FG% ... They featured six men in double figures in the earlier win against BU.
• Team ranks first in both 3-point field goal defense (.323) and rebounding margin (2.1 rpg).
• 6-foot-6 guard Eric Laster leads Loyola in scoring at 11.5 ppg ... He ranks 15th in PL-only games at 12.4 ppg ... Earned 15 points and seven assists in the first meeting with the Terriers.
• 6-foot-2 guard Tyler Hubbard and 6-foot-0 guard Andre Walker are the other two in double figures at 10.7 and 10.5 ppg, respectively ... Walker leads the team in assists at 2.3 apg.
• 6-foot-8 forward Cam Gregory leads the Greyhounds in rebounding at 7.0 rpg while also averaging 6.5 ppg ... He had 18 points and nine rebounds in the first game against BU ... 6-foot-10 forward Franz Rassman owns 22 blocks, including three against the Terriers.
SERIES HISTORY
• The series is tied at 3-3 after Loyola pulled out a 91-86 overtime win earlier in the season at Reitz Arena ... The game was one to forget for the Terriers, as they shot 13-of-31 (.419) from the free throw line in regulation ... They missed a pair of free throws with under a second left to send the game to OT ... Dieudonne (11p, 14r) had a double-double, while Mosely tallied a season-high 23 points.
• BU earned a sweep last season ... The Terriers followed up a 72-58 win at home with an 87-72 victory at Reitz Arena ... They only return though 24 of the points scored in Agganis Arena.
• The Terriers first beat the Greyhounds at the 1996 USF Holiday Tournament ... They met again in the 2012 BracketBusters and 2013 CollegeInsider.com Postseason Tournament with Loyola winning both contests.

• The Terriers will hit the road for the final time this regular season when they visit American on Wednesday (Feb. 18) and Bucknell on Sunday (Feb. 22).
