BOSTON - Needing just one more point to win the Hockey East regular-season title outright, the No. 2/3 Boston University men's ice hockey team wraps up a weekend series with Notre Dame on Saturday at Agganis Arena. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
On Friday, the Terriers skated to a 2-2 draw with the Irish, who are making their first visit to Agganis Arena as members of Hockey East.
The Terriers have clinched a share of the Hockey East regular-season title and can earn it outright with a win or tie Saturday. Boston College and Providence are the only other teams that could still catch up to BU in points.
BU, which faces Northeastern in the Beanpot championship game on Monday, is looking to win its first titles of any kind since the 2010 IceBreaker in St. Louis.
Saturday's game will be the Terriers' annual Autism Speaks Night. BU will wear special uniforms adorned with the multiple Autism Speaks puzzle pieces and the organization will sell fundraising merchandise in the Agganis concourse area. Also, a "Chuck-a-Puck" fundraiser will be held during the second intermission with proceeds going to autism research. In addition, families from Autism Speaks will be in attendance at the game.
Since 2004, the BU hockey team has partnered with Autism Speaks to raise autism awareness and compassion. The Terriers have been wearing the Autism Speaks puzzle-piece logo on the left shoulders of their jerseys since December 2011.
