FORT MYERS, Fla. - Highlighted by a season-high 15 hits and school-record tying seven stolen bases, the Boston University softball team claimed a 13-2 run-rule victory over Quinnipiac on Wednesday afternoon on the campus of FGCU. With their second win in three games, the Terriers improve to 2-14, while the Bobcats drop to 2-9.

The top of the Terriers' line-up had a stellar day with the five slots posting a combined 11-of-14 performance with 12 runs scored and eight RBIs. Junior Lauren Hynes (2-4) went 2-of-2 with two hits, two RBIs, two runs scored, a sacrifice bunt and a walk, while limiting the Bobcats to two runs and five hits in six innings of work.

Sophomore Brittany Younan opened the contest with a single and stolen base before advancing to third on freshman Emma Wong's single. Hynes had an RBI sacrifice bunt, and freshman Jill Schanda sent an RBI single through the left side to give BU a 2-0 lead.

The Bobcats managed to tie the game with two runs off three hits in the second. With the bases loaded and one out, they had an RBI single to right. Wong made a strong throw to sophomore Gabi Martinez at home for the tag on Magana, who was trying to score from second. With two on base, Hynes prevented any more damage by inducing a pop up and would only allow one more hit the rest of the game.

Younan again ignited the offense with a lead-off double in the the third and would later score alongside Hynes on Martinez's first-career triple. Schanda followed with an RBI bunt and would reach home on senior Mandy Fernandez's RBI double for the 6-2 lead.

The Terriers added seven more runs off nine hits in the final two innings to claim the victory. Younan, Schanda and sophomore Moriah Connolly tallied two stolen bases apiece, and senior Emily Felbaum added another to tie the school record at seven.

BU will next head to Clearwater, Fla., to face off against Maine on Thursday (March 12) with first pitch set for 1 p.m. The Terriers will then start the Michele Smith Spring Break Invitational at South Florida on Friday.
