The Boston University men's and women's track & field teams will compete at the Patriot League Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Friday and Saturday, hosted by Army West Point at Shea Stadium.

The BU women will be looking for its second-straight conference crown. Last year, the Terriers dominated the PL Championships, winning 10 of 22 events with seven of those winners setting meet records. This year, BU holds the top mark in the league in 8 of the 19 women's events heading into the weekend.

BU will be favored in two of the three dash events as they own the fastest times in the 100 meter and 200 meter and have the second-fastest time in the 400. Senior Gemma Acheampong has the top 100 and 200 meter times in the conference entering the weekend while junior Christy Wood is ranked 2nd in the 400.

Another strong area for BU will be the relays as BU has the top times in the 4x100 and 4x400m this season. Acheampong and Wood, along with freshman May Marshall and sophomore Djenne Parris set the league's fastest 4x100m relay time at the Penn Relays last week, while Acheampong, Wood, sophomore Toria Levy and classmate Ally Saccone set the best 4x400m mark at the Texas Relays in March.

In the distance events, senior Rosa Moriello is the defending 5,000 meter champion and has the top time entering the event while sophomore Sarah Saccoach will look to make an impact in the 5000 meters, where she is ranked third.

In addition to competing in the relays, sophomore Toria Levy is also ranked No. 1 in both the 100m and 400m high hurdles, setting both marks at the Hurricane Classic in March.

In the field, senior Tessa Runels has the longest distance in the triple jump entering the championship, where she placed second in the event last year while junior Catherine Sampson is ranked second in the long jump.

The Terriers were picked to finish second in the Patriot League outdoor preseason poll in an extremely close vote behind Bucknell by just two points.

On the men's side, BU will look to improve on last-years' third-place team performance where they won four events. The Terriers will be seeking their first ever Patriot League title after being picked to finish third in the PL outdoor preseason poll.

Senior Rich Peters will try and defend his 1,500 meter Patriot League outdoor title in what will be his first 1,500 meter race this season. Peters will also be competing in the 5,000 meter race, where he will be the No. 1 seed after running a Patriot League best 13:46.06 at the Stanford Invite on April 5.

The Terriers will look to make a mark in the dash competition with sophomore Cameron Williams seeded No. 1 in both the 100 and 200 meters. Williams ran a Patriot League best 10.50 100m dash at the Tiger Classic on April 3rd followed by a PL best 20.89 in the 200m later in that same meet. Junior David Lagerberg will be seeded No. 2 in the 400 meter dash.

Another area of strength for the Terriers entering the championships will be in the relays. BU's foursome of Williams, Justin Flynn, Alastair Prenn, and Lagerberg set a school record last week at the Penn Relays with a time of 40.91, which was also the fastest mark in the PL this season.

In the field events, sophomore standout David Oluwadara will look to cap off his excellent outdoor season in the triple jump. Oluwadara ranks first in the event with a 15.51 (50'10.75") mark.

Also in the field, junior Ethan Knight, the defending PL indoor shot put champion is ranked No. 1 in the shot put and No. 2 in the discuss. Junior Reuben Horace enters the weekend second in the hammer throw.

Following the Patriot League Championships, BU will compete in the New England Championships May 7-9.
