USA Today's Top-10 Schools for D-I Softball

BOSTON - The Boston University softball team was named the sixth-best program in America by USA Today's College Factual in an article published earlier in the week.

The rankings for the best colleges for softball took into account the athletic success of the team, as well as the academic success of the student-athletes and other quality measures.

Guided by head coach Kathryn Gleason, the Terriers claimed their fourth NCAA bid in six years last May by winning the Patriot League title in just their first season in the conference.

They went on to eliminate AAC champion Louisville at the Tucson Regional in front of a primetime national audience on ESPN to become the lone No. 4 seed to win a game during the 2014 NCAA tournament. BU was just one out away from stunning LSU and reaching its first regional final appearance since 2009.

In the classroom, the Terriers have posted a perfect Graduation Success Rate (GSR) score of 100 three times in the last seven years. They have also claimed a perfect Academic Progress Rate (APR) score each of the last five years.

Last season, Jayme Mask ('14) received Capital One Academic All-America honors after departing BU as the school-record holder in stolen bases, runs scored and hits.
