HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Terriers had an 11-4 shot advantage in the first half but entered the locker room scoreless, as both keepers had one save apiece.
- BU needed just four minutes in the second to take the lead when senior David Amirani sent a through ball from midfield up to a running junior Anthony Viteri, who fired a low grounder at the top of the box inside the right post.
- Army desperately sought the equalizer by doubling the shot attempts in the second half compared to the first but Gilbert had three saves to preserve the victory.
GAME NOTES
- The Black Knights entered the contest having tallied two goals in each of the past three games before suffering the shutout loss.
- BU has now recorded four shutouts in the last five contests with three taking place at home.
- With his seventh goal of the season, Viteri (2a) has now tied senior Felix De Bona (8g) in both points (16) and game winners (3).
- Amirani became the seventh Terrier to record at least two assists this season by helping on Viteri's goal.
- The Terriers finished ahead in both shots (20-13) and corner kicks (9-5).
- With the last two wins this week over Holy Cross and Army, BU has jumped from ninth to fifth in the PL standings and now owns a one-point lead over Lafayette (10) and Bucknell (10) with Lehigh close behind at nine points. Only six teams will advance to the conference tournament.
- During the pregame ceremony, BU recognized Amirani, De Bona, David Asbjornsson, Peter Brodeur and Noah Sinkoff ... A fifth-year senior, Gilbert was formally recognized last year with his original class.
