BOSTON – Looking to avenge last week's season-opening loss at Northeastern, the Boston University men's basketball team will open the Steve Wright Classic against the Huskies on Friday with tip-off slated for 6 p.m. Now members of the Patriot League and Colonial Athletic Conference, respectively, the two rivals are meeting twice in a season for the first time since they were both members of the America East in 2005-06.
The four-day round-robin event is named after BU Hall of Famer Steve Wright ('80), who passed away at the young age of 45 following a lengthy battle with leukemia, and will also feature Maine and LIU Brooklyn. The program's first three-time team MVP saw his jersey #33 retired and graduated first all-time in the school record book in made field goals (617) while also finishing second in points (1,679), second in free throws (407) and eighth in rebounds (685).
