TURNING POINT
  • Down 57-45, the Terriers finished the game on a 20-6 run and scored 10 of the game's final 11 points in the last 4:28 of the contest.
  • After T.J. Williams hit one of two free throws to tie the game, 63-63, with 28 seconds left, sophomore Kyle Foreman brought the ball up and found junior Cedric Hankerson, who drove toward the hoop on the right side for the successful contested layup.
  • Williams tried to duplicate Hankerson's heroics with a jumper, but junior Nick Havener timed his block beautifully to seal the win.
THE SETUP
  • The first half was mostly a see-saw affair with Williams cutting Northeastern's deficit to two (29-27) at 4:53 before the Terriers reeled off eight points over a two-minute span.
  • BU entered the locker room, leading 39-33, on 48.0 percent shooting, while the Huskies were limited to 37.0 percent.
  • The Huskies clamped down defensively and limited BU to just six points over the first 12 minutes of the second half, including one six-minute drought.
  • After freshman Tyler Scanlon tied the game at 45-45 with 14:34 left, Williams and Florida transfer Alex Murphy hit back-to-back 3-pointers to ignite a 12-0 run.
  • Down 62-55 with 4:29 left, BU scored eight straight with Havener's tip-in at 3:16 and senior Eric Fanning's layup at 1:29.
  • Junior Cheddi Mosely scored the other four on one play, as he drained a 3-pointer from the corner with 40 seconds left and added the free throw for the 63-62 lead, setting up the thrilling finish.
GAME NOTES
  • BU snapped a three-game losing streak to the Huskies to retake the lead in the all-time series, 73-72, after falling one week prior on the road, 87-77.
  • Suffering its first loss of the year following wins over the Terriers and UConn, Northeastern was held to 39.6 percent shooting despite the Huskies shooting over 55 percent at Matthews Arena last Friday.
  • Fanning led the Terriers for the second consecutive contest in scoring after tallying 29 in the season opener.
  • If not for Havener's block, the two teams could have been going to overtime for the fourth straight time against one another in Case Gym following NU wins in 2015 and 2011 and BU win in 2009.
  • Northeastern missed its final six field goal attempts and went 6-of-10 at the line down the stretch.
NEXT UP: MAINE
  • BU will continue the Steve Wright Classic at 4 p.m. on Saturday (Nov. 19) against former America East foe Maine with Northeastern and LIU Brooklyn following up at 6:30 p.m.
  • The Terriers lead the all-time series, 59-41, and won the last meeting against the Black Bears in 2012.
