BOSTON – Highlighted by junior Nick Havener's double-double and 13 3-pointers, the Boston University men's basketball claimed a sweep in the Steve Wright Classic with an 86-69 win over LIU Brooklyn Sunday evening at Case Gym. The victory along with previous wins over Northeastern and Maine during the round-robin event helped the host Terriers post an unblemished record in a regular season tournament for the first time since 1996 and earn three wins for the first time in program history.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- After Iverson Fleming tied the score at 2-2, junior Cheddi Mosely drained a 3-pointer to ignite an 11-2 run capped by freshman Tyler Scanlon's trey at 15:00 that gave BU the lead for good.
- Owning a 15-10 advantage, the Terriers scored 11 straight with the help of sophomore Kyle Foreman's 3-pointer and senior Blaise Mbargorba's back-to-back layups.
- The Blackbirds pulled within nine (34-25) at 2:34, but the Terriers pushed the lead to double-digits again on a pair of 3-pointers to enter the locker room ahead, 44-28.
- Nine Terriers hit at least one field with three men hauling in at least five rebounds apiece during the first 20 minutes of action.
- Junior Cedric Hankerson went 0-of-4 from three in the first half but caught on fire early in the second with five-straight made 3-point attempts to finish with a game-high 19 points and help the Terriers lead by as many as 24 (58-34) in win.
GAME NOTES
- The Terriers are now on a three-game win streak and sit at 3-1 for their best start to a season through four games since opening the 2008-09 season at 3-1.
- BU last posted an unblemished record in a regular season tournament in 1996 when they won South Florida's Christmas Tournament off wins against Loyola Maryland and the host Bulls.
- The victory marked BU's 250th-career win in Case Gym, nicknamed The Roof, which has served as one of the homes of the program alongside Agganis Arena and Walter Brown Arena since 1972-73.
- Sixth-year head coach Joe Jones moved to fourth all-time in career wins with the Terriers at 92, surpassing Naismith Hall of Famer Rick Pitino ('78-'83) ... He just needs four more to tie Matt Zunic ('52-'59) and nine to tie Mike Jarvis ('85-'90), who coincidentally was in attendance during the Steve Wright Classic as part of the annual men's basketball alumni weekend.
- Junior Nick Havener recorded 13 points and 12 rebounds for his fifth-career double-double and the team's first of the season.
- The Terriers improved to 3-4 all-time against LIU Brooklyn with back-to-back wins following a 2013 victory at the 2K Sports Classic on UC Irvine's campus.
NEXT UP: WESTERN NEW ENGLAND
- BU will conclude a four-game homestand on Tuesday at 12 p.m. against Western New England from the Commonwealth Coast Conference
- The Golden Bears are located in Springfield, Mass., and will be making their first-ever trek to Case Gym.
