BU Ends Homestand with Western New England Tuesday at Noon

BOSTON – Looking to remain perfect at home following a three-game sweep in the Steve Wright Classic, the Boston University men's basketball team will host Western New England on Tuesday with tip-off slated for 12 p.m. The matchup will mark the first-ever between the two schools.

TERRIER TIDBITS
  • Following wins over Northeastern (65-63), Maine (102-78) and LIU Brooklyn (86-69), BU is off to its best start through four games since opening the 2008-09 season at 3-1.
  • The Terriers posted an unblemished mark in a regular season tournament for the first time since 1996 and won three games for the first time in program history.
  • With the three wins, head coach Joe Jones moved past Naismith Hall of Famer Rick Pitino ('78-'83) into the No. 4 slot in the BU record book for all-time program wins at 92.
  • Highlighted by its first 100-point performance since 1994 against the Black Bears, BU currently ranks 83rd nationally in scoring offense at 82.5 ppg and 90th in field goal percentage at .480.
  • Senior Eric Fanning leads BU in scoring at 18.3 ppg, while Nick Havener owns a team-high rebounding average of 7.0 rpg after posting his first double-double of the season (13p, 12r) against the Blackbirds.
  • Freshman Tyler Scanlon earned the Terriers' first PL weekly award on Monday as the Rookie of the Week after averaging 9.7 ppg and 4.3 rpg in the Steve Wright Classic.
  • Junior Cedric Hankerson drained five straight 3-point attempts in the second half against LIU Brooklyn to help BU rank 31st nationally in made 3-pointers at 9.8 per game.
  • Defensively, BU is holding opponents to 43.2 percent and owns a positive rebounding margin of 2.3.
SCOUTING WESTERN NEW ENGLAND
  • WNE is located in Springfield, Mass. and is a member of the Commonwealth Coast Conference.
  • The Golden Bears are 1-2 this year with an 80-69 loss to Springfield and a split at Wesleyan's Herb Kenny Tip-Off Tournament which featured a 73-58 victory over Wheaton and 88-80 loss to the host Cardinals.
  • Through three games, 6-foot-3 guard Mike Gelineau leads WNE in both scoring (19.3 ppg) and rebounding (7.3 rpg) with 5-foot-10 guard Mike Pettway second at 14.0 ppg and 5.0 rpg, respectively.
  • The Golden Bears are shooting 41.0 percent from the field with an average of 15.7 assists per game.
  • Opponents are shooting 45.6 percent and out-rebounding WNE, 43.3-35.0.
