The Boston University women's ice hockey team will host Princeton for a weekend series at Walter Brown Arena beginning Friday night at 7 p.m. The teams will then take the ice again on Saturday at 3 p.m.
BU (8-5-1, 6-5-0 WHEA) is on a three-game win streak, including a 4-3 overtime win at Harvard on Tuesday. The Terriers will be facing Princeton for the first time since the 2010-11 season when BU swept the Tigers thanks to wins at Walter Brown Arena and Agganis Arena. BU is 4-2-0 all-time against Princeton, which enters Friday's game with a 5-4-1 overall record.
While BU has not faced Princeton since the 2010-11 season, one current Terrier has played the Tigers many times. Former Harvard standout and current BU graduate student Mary Parker has skated against the Tigers, posting three goals and four assists for seven points in seven career games. Parker has been outstanding this season for the Terriers, as she enters Friday on a seven-game point streak (7g, 5a) and a six-game goal streak. Her linemates, juniors Victoria Bach and Nina Rodgers, have also been brilliant of late, with Bach riding a six-game point streak (7g, 6a) and Rodgers having recorded a pair of assists on Tuesday at Harvard, including the primary helper on Bach's overtime winner.
The Terriers will likely keep Princeton's goaltender busy this weekend, as they are second in the nation with an average of 37.14 shots on goal per game. BU has recorded at least 40 shots on goal in each of its last four games, including a 50-shot performance at Merrimack on Nov. 18. Princeton has held opponents to an average of 26.70 shots on goal per game this season.
The Tigers began the season ranked seventh nationally and are receiving votes in both polls entering this weekend. Princeton split a pair of home games last weekend, defeating then-No. 5 Colgate, 7-2, before dropping a 2-1 decision to Cornell. PU has been better on the road, going 4-1-1 away from Baker Rink.
Sophomore Karlie Lund leads the Tigers in both goals (9) and points (14) while senior Kelsey Koelzer is tops on the squad with seven assists. Junior Alysa DaSilva has started all 10 games between the pipes, posting a 1.98 goals-against average and a .925 save percentage.
BU will return to league play next weekend as the Terriers face UConn in a home-and-home series that begins in Connecticut on Friday, Dec. 2.
