Scarlet & White Results
Highlighted by a combined 15 top-ten finishes, the Boston University men's and women’s track & field teams hosted the Scarlet and White Invitational on Saturday at the Track and Tennis Center. The event was the second meet in two days for the teams as the Terriers also competed in the Harvard Crimson Elite Meet on Friday.
On the women's side, junior Toria Levy had a strong performance in the women’s 60 meter hurdles, advancing to the finals in a field of 29 runners and finishing fifth with a personal-best time of 8.73. She later finished 17th in the 200 meter dash with a personal-best time of 25.15.
The women’s 4x400 meter relay team, made up of freshman Jordan Coverson, junior Djenne Parris, junior Kerri Graber and freshman Casey Kelly, had an impressive outing, placing fifth in a field of 18 with a time of 4:00.75.
Senior Christy Wood continued to shine this indoor season, finishing fourth in the 500 meter dash with a time of 1:14.28. It was Woods first time competing in the 500 meter as a Terrier. Junior Djenne Parris also ran the 500 for the first time, finishing ninth with a time of 1:16.44.
Junior Hallie Armstrong finished 18th in the 1 mile run with a time of 5:13.00, while in the 1000 meter run, freshman Elin Wolker finished 15th with a time of 3:13.21.
In the 400 meter dash, senior Jade Paul took seventh with a time of 56.85, a new personal-best.
In the field, the Terriers were led by senior Catherine Sampson, who took eighth in the high jump with a 1.55 meter leap and junior Sarah Kert, who finished ninth in the pole vault with a 3.35 meter effort.
For the men, the Terriers were led by a remarkable performance in the men’s 1 mile by freshman Alexander Seal. The Austinmer, Australia native posted a personal-best time of 4:01:16 to finish fifth in a very strong field that saw the top four competitors post sub four-minute miles. Last week at the John Thomas Terrier Invite, Seal posted a then personal-best time of 4:01.62 and was named Patriot League Rookie of the Week.
Other top performers for the men included senior David Lagerberg who took third in the 200 meter dash with a time of 21.62 in a large field of 74 runners. In the same race, freshman Robie Webster continued to impress, finishing sixth with a time of 21.83. Junior Justin Flynn took seventh with a time of 21.84.
Competing in the 500 meters for the first time as a Terrier, junior Ethan Homan finished second overall with an excellent time of 1:04.30 in a field of 18.
In the field, the Terriers were led by senior Ethan Knight who won the shot put competition with a throw of 16.92 meters, while senior Nikolaos Farmakidis took third in the pole vault competition with a 4.65 meter effort.
