MIAMI - The Boston University women's track & field team opened the 2016 outdoor season at the Hurricane Invitational on March 18 and 19.
The Terriers posted seven top-five finishes, highlighted by a pair of victories. Junior Toria Levy won the 400m hurdles with a time of 58.08 seconds while freshman Lovie Burleson won the long jump with a leap of 5.94 meters (19’ 6”).
In addition to her victory, Levy also took third in the 100m hurdles with a time of 13.81 seconds, followed by junior Ally Saccone (14.49) in eighth and senior Catherine Sampson (14.49) in ninth. The 4x100m relay team of Levy, freshman Ebony Brown, senior Christy Wood and junior Djenne Parris took fourth in the 4x100m relay with a time of 46.65 seconds. The quartet of Burleson, Saccone, freshman Kennedy Jones and sophomore Maya Marshall was seventh with a time of 48.91 seconds.
Burleson and Jones shined in the triple jump, with Jones securing second (12.09m, 39' 8") and Burleson claiming third (12.07m, 39' 7.25").
Senior Jade Paul posted a sixth-place finish in the 400m dash with a time of 57.49 seconds. Wood was sixth in the 200m dash with a time of 23.99 seconds.
Junior Christie Molloy finished fourth in the javelin with a toss of 36.85 meters (120’ 11”). Classmate Sarah Kert (3.40m, 11’ 1.75”) and freshman Rachel Wilhelm (3.10m, 10’ 2”) were second and third, respectively, in the pole vault. Jones also secured ninth in the long jump (5.38m, 17’ 8”).
BU will be back in action at the Texas Relays on March 30.
