BOSTON - Coming off its fifth postseason appearance in seven years, the Boston University men's basketball team held its annual year-end banquet at BU's Trustees Ballroom in the Questrom School of Business on Saturday afternoon. Fifth-year head coach Joe Jones and his staff handed out several team honors, including the program's Most Improved Player, Rookie of the Year and Most Valuable Player award.

A former team captain who ranks second all-time at BU in field goal shooting percentage (.556) and currently works as a lieutenant within the Greenburgh (N.Y.) police department, Desmond Martin ('81) served as the keynote speaker with fellow BU alum and current Terrier basketball broadcast announcer Doug Brown ('78) serving as master of ceremonies.

The Lou Cohen MVP Award was presented to senior John Papale, who received the honor for the second consecutive season after playing a school-record 1,232 minutes (36.2 mpg) and averaging 11.9 ppg with 2.6 rpg and 2.5 assist-to-turnover ratio. He also hit a school-record 95 3-pointers and became the first since 2009 to land at No. 1 in the SportsCenter Top 10 list following his buzzer-beating shot against Lehigh.

Papale's fellow classmate Nathan Dieudonne earned the first-ever Tunji Awojobi Award as the team's top defensive player. Dieudonne was named to the Patriot League All-Defensive Team after averaging a team-high 7.8 rpg. He was averaging a double-double in conference play before suffering an injury against American on Feb. 10. His 18 rebounds at Army were the most by a Terrier since Awojobi had 21 against Delaware in 1996.

A tireless worker on and off the court, junior Blaise Mbargorba was the recipient of the Reggie Stewart Award for best exemplifying the traits of BU basketball. He shot a team-high 57.3 percent from the field and recorded 33 blocks after tallying just four his sophomore season.

Freshman Kyle Foreman received the John Holland Rookie of the Year Award after becoming the fifth Terrier in four years under Jones to earn conference All-Rookie Team accolades. Foreman averaged 9.2 ppg and was the lone freshman to rank in the top 10 in the PL for assists (7th - 3.9 apg) and steals (7th - 1.2 spg).

Nick Havener was honored with the Arturo Brown Most Improved Award after having a standout sophomore campaign. After averaging 0.9 ppg and 2.0 rpg his freshman year, he more than tripled the averages to 6.7 ppg and 6.1 rpg his second season with the Terriers. He recorded four double-doubles this season, including an 18-point, 11-rebound performance against Harvard. He also led BU in blocks with 40 after recording just one as a rookie.

A member of the 2015 PL Academic Honor Roll, junior Dylan Haines was awarded the Richard Taylor Academic Award. He tallied 21 blocks in 28 games after posting four total in the first two seasons and shot 37.9 percent from behind the arc. He posted 10 points at Loyola Maryland and tallied a season-high seven rebounds against both Colgate and Bucknell.
