BOSTON - The No. 20 Boston University men's lacrosse team dropped an 8-7 decision to Lehigh on Saturday afternoon at Nickerson Field.

BU (8-3, 3-2 PL) battled back from a 5-2 halftime deficit to take a 6-5 lead in the third quarter, but Lehigh (6-4, 4-2 PL) tied the game with six second left in that stanza and scored twice in the final 15 minutes to secure the victory. The Mountain Hawks' game-winning goal came with 2:28 remaining in regulation.

The Terriers had one last chance to force overtime with five second left after a Lehigh penalty, but a chance from freshman Brendan Homire went just wide.

Sophomore Ryan Hilburn led the Terriers with two goals and one assist. Freshman Michael Laviano posted his second straight multi-point game with two goals, both of which brought BU back to level terms in the third quarter. Homire also had a pair of points thanks to two assists.

Jack Wilson notched his 20th goal of the season to open the scoring; the sophomore now has a goal in 16 straight games and a point in each of his last 22 contests. Junior Chad Bell and freshman Drew Lukacs also found the back of the net for BU while freshman James Burr and junior Cal Dearth each provided a helper.

Junior Sam Talkow was once again terrific at the faceoff X, winning 14 of the 18 draws he took and gathering nine ground balls. The Terriers collected 30 ground balls as a team, with Dearth factoring on four of them. Juniors Greg Wozniak and Henry Lee each had three caused turnovers and two ground balls. Classmate Christian Carson-Banister finished with five saves.

Following Wilson's goal early in the first quarter, Lehigh scored the next three to take a 3-1 lead into the second frame. Bell cut the deficit to 3-2 as he beat the shot clock, but the Mountain Hawks notched the next two markers to take a 5-2 lead into halftime.

Lukacs made it a 4-2 Lehigh lead just 16 seconds into the third quarter to spark a 4-0 Terrier run. Laviano had the next two goals before Hilburn converted a man-up chance with 1:23 left in the stanza to make it 6-5. A Reid Weber goal with six seconds left in the quarter evened the score entering the final 15 minutes.

Weber scored again early in the fourth to give Lehigh a 7-6 lead. Hilburn answered with 5:03 to play to tie the game, but Chris Appell's goal with 2:28 left sealed the victory.

BU will play its final home game before the Patriot League playoffs next Saturday when the Terriers host Army West Point on April 9 at Nickerson Field.
