SMITHFIELD, R.I. - Highlighted by junior Moriah Connolly's career-tying four hits, the Boston University softball rolled to a 9-1 run-rule victory at Bryant on Wednesday afternoon.

Finishing with a 12-4 advantage in hits against the Bulldogs (6-29), the Terriers improve to 15-20. Junior Gabi Martinez joined Connolly in posting a multi-hit performance by going 2-of-4 with a two-RBI double. Senior Melanie Russell (4-7) collected the win by limiting Bryant to just three hits with four strikeouts.

BU jumped out ahead immediately, as Connolly and sophomore Jilee Schanda hit back-to-back singles and then followed with a stolen base. Martinez plated Connolly on a groundout, and Schanda scored the next run on a wild pitch. Two innings later, Martinez drove in both teammates to extend the lead to 4-0.

The Bulldogs hit a pair of singles in the fourth, but Russell got a pop up to end the threat. The Terriers then added five runs off five hits in the fifth with freshman Alexa Ponce and freshman Emily Morrow plating one run apiece. Junior Brittany Younan singled down the right field line to add two more runs, and Schanda earned her lone RBI on a walk.

Bryant avoided the shutout with a two-out single against sophomore Sydni Overly but was unable to get enough runs to extend the game.

The Terriers will next visit UMass Lowell on Thursday (April 21) at 4 p.m.
