HAMILTON, N.Y. - Five Terriers recorded multi-hit performances and senior Lauren Hynes pitched her third solo shutout of the year to help the Boston University softball team post a 5-0 victory at Colgate in the regular season finale on Sunday afternoon.

By winning the weekend series against the Raiders (12-29, 7-11 PL), the Terriers (25-22, 11-6 PL) clinched the No. 3 seed ahead of No. 4 Bucknell for the upcoming four-team Patriot League tournament after being left out last season.

Junior Brittany Younan tallied a team-high three hits and scored the go-ahead run in the first on a RBI-single by sophomore Jilee Schanda. Junior Gabi Martinez, sophomore Emma Wong and freshman Emily Morrow joined Schanda in collecting two hits apiece. Hynes went the distance and limited the Raiders to just four hits with one strikeout against one walk.

Younan's run was the only score for either team through the first five innings. She almost added a second in the third but was thrown out at home after trying to score from second on junior Moriah Connolly's single to left. The Raiders had their chances in the bottom half with two runners on with two outs, but they were thrown out at home as well to end the threat.

The two teams combined for five runners left on base in the fifth to continue the pitchers' duel, but BU started pulling away during the next inning. Martinez led off with a double and sored from second on Wong's RBI single to center to push the lead to 2-0.

Improving to 3-0 this year in "Senior Day" games, the Terriers put the game away in the seventh by first loading the bases. After a wild pitch led to one run, Martinez and Wong hit RBI singles for the 5-0 lead.

Hynes quickly retired the side in the bottom half to seal the victory, as she and senior Melanie Russell limited Colgate to a combined three runs (one earned) in 21 innings of work.

After being swept at Army to open the conference schedule, BU went 11-3 with a 1-1 mark against No. 1 Lehigh an 2-1 record against No. 4 Bucknell.

The Terriers lost the three contests to the Black Knights by a combined four runs and will the chance to get reventage against Army on Thursday at 2:30 p.m. in the opening round of the PL tournament. Lehigh and Bucknell will face off first at 12 p.m.
