SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Freshman
Paul Luevano was victorious in his collegiate debut, one of five Terriers to place in the top 10 as the Boston University men's cross country team cruised to a win at the season-opening Nassaney Invitation hosted by Bryant on Saturday morning.

BU finished with 19 points, 45 clear of second-place Rhode Island. The only other Patriot League school in the event was Holy Cross, which totaled 118 points.

It was a banner day for the newest Terriers, as all four newcomers finished in the top 10. Luevano crossed the finish line in 25:17.0, well ahead of the second-place competitor. Classmate
Brett Davidson took third (25:51), with sophomore
Johnny Kemps placing fifth in his BU debut (26:04). Right behind him was rookie
Greg Pelose in sixth (26:05).

Senior
Ethan Homan rounded out the top 10 with a time of 26:24, followed by classmate Cullin Burdett in 11th (26:29). Two other Terriers finished in the top 20, with sophomore
Alexander Seal crossing the line in 16th (27:00) and classmate
Zachary Prescott placing 18th (27:01).

Ian Anderson, was 23rd (27:21) while senior
Matti Groll took 26th (27:28). Sophomores
Daniel Erickson (28:26) and
Liam O'Connell (28:37) were 42nd and 45th, respectively.

BU will have nearly a month off before its next competition. The Terriers will defend their New England championship on Oct. 8 at Franklin Park.
