THE TURNING POINT
- Down by as many as 10 with 9:13 remaining, the Terriers pulled within one (56-55) at 3:05 and later two (60-58) at 1:25.
- On the ensuing possession, Colgate missed a 3-point attempt and then called a timeout at 42 seconds after grabbing the offensive rebound.
- The Raiders turned the ball over on the inbounds pass, but BU missed an open look and its final five shot attempts for the loss.
THE SETUP
- BU jumped out to a 15-2 lead with 10:25 left in the half, as Colgate started the game 1-of-14.
- The Raiders found their rhythm though and hit back-to-back 3-pointers to spark a 16-2 run capped by Malcolm Regisford's jumper at 4:55.
- After junior Nick Havener tied the game, 21-21, at 3:03, Colgate scored five straight off two free throws and a 3-pointer from Sean O'Brien and would enter the locker room ahead, 26-22.
- Colgate's Will Rayman opened the second half with a 3-pointer following BU's missed attempt and hit another at 13:15 for a 41-31 lead.
- Trailing 49-39 with 9:13 remaining, senior Eric Fanning hit a 3-pointer and added his career-high fourth trey at 4:02 to pull within 56-53.
- The Terriers forced a shot clock violation and found senior Justin Alston at the free throw line to pull within one.
- Rayman responded with his fifth 3-pointer from the corner and added a free throw after a defensive stop to extend the lead to 60-55.
GAME NOTES
- Fanning earned his sixth career double-double and the third in conference play through seven games this season.
- BU's bigs Alston and Havener went a combined 12-of-15 (.800) en route to 26 points, while the rest of the team went 8-of-42 (.190).
- The Terriers entered the week 5-0 in conference play shooting 45.7 percent from three ... In the two losses to Loyola Maryland and Colgate, BU shot a combined 6-of-38 (.157).
- Colgate's Will Rayman and Sean O'Brien went a combined 9-of-18 from three for a combined 41 points.
- The Raiders improved to 3-1 on the road in conference play, as the Terriers were held below 60 points at home for the first time this season.
