- Leading by nine (64-55) with 10:06 remaining, the Terriers hit three-straight 3-pointers to ignite a 20-5 run over the following 4:30.
THE SET UP
- The first half was a battle of spurts with BU opening quickly.
- Senior Eric Fanning and junior Cedric Hankerson started the game with back-to-back treys and extended lead to 14-5 at 16:10 on Fanning layup.
- The Leopards responded with a 14-3 run capped by two 3-pointers from Nick Lindner to grab their only lead of the game, 19:17, at 13:07.
- The Terriers quickly retook the lead on junior Will Goff's 3-pointer and scored the final 11 points of the half in last 3:39 to enter the locker room leading, 45-33.
- BU hit nine 3-pointers on 19 attempts against Lafayette's five and posted an 8-0 advantage in free throws for the 12-point lead.
- Klinewski converted on a 3-point play at 19:08 (45-38) and hit a pair of free throws at 12:47 (58-51) to pull the Leopards within seven, but they would never get any closer the rest of the game.
GAME NOTES
- Hankerson (6), freshman Tyler Scanlon (4), Fanning (3), junior Eric Johnson (3) and Goff (2) combined for a school-record 18 3-pointers, topping the previous high of 16 set at Syracuse back in December and vs. Albany back in 2010 ... The 18 treys also tie a Patriot League record set by Colgate back in November against Union and Lafayette three times (last in 2012).
- Fanning scored 15 of his 18 points in the first half and just needs two more to reach 1,000-career points at BU.
- Hankerson finished with 21 points, as BU improved to 1-5 when a Terrier reaches 20 in a game this season.
- Senior Justin Alston was one point and one rebound shy of his second double-double this season, while sophomore Kyle Foreman had six points, six assists against one turnover and four steals.
- BU extended win streak over Lafayette to three games and now lead the all-time series, 9-6.
NEXT UP: AMERICAN
- After winning their first two road games of the season at Navy and Lafayette, BU will return home and host American on Wednesday (Jan. 11) at 7 p.m.
- The Terriers are 5-1 against the Eagles during conference play since joining the PL in the summer of 2013, but AU has eliminated BU twice (2014, 2016) in the conference tournament, including in the quarterfinals last March at Case Gym (69-64).
