WEST POINT, N.Y. – With a chance to clinch a berth in the Patriot League tournament on the line, Christina Wakefield provided what proved to be the game-winning goal in the 15th minute to send the Boston University women's soccer team past Army, 1-0, Wednesday night at Malek Stadium at Clinton Field.

How it Happened
- Working through the Black Knight defense, McKenna Kennedy found Jesse Shreck at the center of the field 30 yards out from the goal, where she turned and sent a through ball between a pair of Army defenders.
- Wakefield crashed in from the right side past the Black Knights backline and buried the ball into the back left post for her fifth score of the season.
- McKenna Doyle nearly furthered the lead in the 32nd minute, bending a shot that was bound for the back of the net, though Army's keeper made a full-extension save to hold the game at 1-0.
- Dorrie Varley-Barrett followed five minutes with another near-goal, roping a shot headed towards the upper 90 that sailed just wide.
- BU proved why it's one of the most aggressive attacks in the league, as it held a commanding 12-2 shot advantage in the first.
- Army ramped up the pressure in the second frame, owning a 5-2 lead in corner kicks, though the Terrier backline held for each challenge.
- Wakefield's score marked her 10th career goal as a Terrier. Four of Wakefield's five scores this season have come against Patriot League opponents.
- BU earned its ninth shutout of the season and third in-a-row.
- Amanda Fay earned her seventh shutout in net and finished with five saves.
- The Terriers finished with a commanding 19-8 advantage in shots, while Army led 6-4 in corner kicks.
- BU now claims 16 points in the Patriot League standings and currently sits in fourth place.
- The Terriers will visit Bucknell on Saturday, Oct. 21 for a 2 p.m. contest.
