BOSTON – Riding a three-game win streak, the Boston University men's basketball team will fly south for a pair of non-conference games in the Sunshine State, starting at No. 10 Miami on Tuesday with tip-off slated for 7 p.m.

TERRIER TIDBITS
  • Following victories at Maine and New Hampshire, BU is trying to win three straight "true" non-conference road games for the first time since 2004 ... The Terriers were victorious in three consecutive contests away from home in both 2011 and 2013 but one of those wins during each streak was on a neutral court.
  • BU is 2-2 against the Atlantic Coast Conference under Jones with wins at Maryland (2013: 83-77) and Boston College (2011: 75-61) ... Last season, the Terriers fell at both NC State (77-73) and Syracuse (99-77).
  • The Terriers are seeking their first win against a nationally-ranked opponent since beating Navy in the Sweet 16 of the 1959 NCAA tournament ... They are 0-4 under head coach Joe Jones with two losses at then-No. 1 Kentucky ... BU led then-No. 19 UConn, 43-42, in the second half in 2013 before the Huskies pulled away for a 77-60 victory.
  • Tuesday's contest marks a homecoming for fifth-year senior Cedric Hankerson, who was an All-State First Team honoree at Coral Reef H.S. ... He scored a team-high 17 points at UNH this past Wednesday to move into 29th all-time at BU in career points (1,050).
  • BU has had 11 of 13 players on the roster reach double figures this season with all four freshmen hitting the mark ... Senior Nick Havener is the other Terrier in double figures at 10.7 ppg.
  • Havener is averaging a team-high 6.2 rpg, while freshman Javante McCoy (9.0 ppg) and sophomore Tyler Scanlon (6.5 ppg) are averaging an identical 2.5 apg.
  • BU is averaging 71.7 ppg and 44.0 FG% while holding opponents to 70.7 ppg and 42.5 FG% ... Albany is the only opponent to shoot over 50 percent this season at 32-of-56 (.571).
  • Through six contests, the Terriers rank last (351st) in the country in free throw shooting at .527 after going 3-of-14 in the second half at UNH ... McCoy hit his second free throw attempt with 2.6 seconds remaining in regulation to break a 69-69 deadlock.

SCOUTING MIAMI

  • Miami is a perfect 7-0 so far with an impressive 86-81 road win at No. 12 Minnesota after going 21-12 last season and falling to Michigan State in the first round of the NCAA tournament.
  • The Hurricanes are riding a 15-game home win streak against non-conference opponents with their last loss coming against Northeastern (78-77) on Nov. 27, 2015 ... This year, they are 4-0 with victories over Patriot League member Navy (89-55), Gardner-Webb (77-45), Florida A&M (90-59) and North Florida (86-65).
  • Miami has four men averaging double figures with 6-foot-11 forward Dewan Huell leading the way at 14.1 ppg ... 6-foot-5 guard Bruce Brown is next at 11.7 ppg with 6-foot-3 guard DJ Vasilijevic (11.3 ppg) and 6-foot-3 guard Ja'Quan Newton (10.6 ppg) close behind.
  • Brown (8.6 rpg) and Anthony Lawrence (8.3 ppg, 7.0 rpg) are helping the Hurricanes own a positive 5.6 rebounding margin.
  • Miami is shooting an impressive 50.1 percent form the field and 38.7 percent in 3-point territory to average 80.7 ppg and 8.6 made 3-pointers per game.
  • Defensively, the Hurricanes are holding opponents to 35.7 FG% and 25.4 3FG%.

SERIES HISTORY

  • BU lost its only game (81-60) at Miami on Dec. 27, 1965, during the Hurricane Classic.
  • The Terriers later played at the Orange Bowl tournament in 1984, posting a loss to FIU and win against Drexel.
  • Current Miami assistant coach Adam Fisher served as director of operations at BU from 2009-11.
