BOSTON – Seniors Eric Fanning and Justin Alston combined for 40 points and 10 rebounds to help lead the Boston University men's basketball team to a 78-63 win over Loyola Maryland on Saturday afternoon. Avenging an earlier loss to the Greyhounds (13-12, 7-7 PL), the Terriers (15-11, 10-4 PL) clinched their eighth double-digit conference-win total in the last nine seasons.

THE TURNING POINT
- Facing a 21-20 deficit with 7:13 left in the first, the Terriers went on a 10-0 run keyed by 3-pointers from freshman Tyler Scanlon and junior Will Goff to grab the lead for good.
- Down by as many as 14 (54-40) in the middle of the second half, the Greyhounds pulled within six (56-50) at 6:40 on a pair of free throws, but the Terriers scored eight straight with the help of two steals to put the game away.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The first half featured seven lead changes, as BU jumped out to an early 11-6 lead thanks to 3-pointers from Scanlon and senior Eric Fanning.
- Down 13-8 with 13:57 left in the half, Loyola went on an 11-3 run capped by Jarred Jones' jumper at 8:31 for the Greyhounds' largest lead of the game.
- The lead went back and forth until senior Justin Alston, Scanlon, Fanning and Goff combined for 10 straight points.
- BU entered the locker room ahead, 36-27, by shooting 46.7 percent and owning a 4-1 advantage in made 3-pointers.
- Junior Eric Johnson opened the second by feeding Alston for a slam dunk, which was followed by Scanlon's 3-pointer.
- Loyola's Chuck Champion hit consecutive 3-pointers to cut a 14-point deficit to 54-46 at 9:38, and three minutes later, Jones hit a pair of free throws to pull the Greyhounds within six.
- Fanning responded with two free throws, and after a Loyola turnover, Alston hit a short jumper to extend the lead to double digits for the rest of the contest.
- The Terriers shot 50 percent from the field in the second half and went a near-perfect 15-of-16 at the line to seal the win.
GAME NOTES
- Fanning led the Terriers with 23 points, six rebounds and four assists while adding three steals.
- Freshman Tyler Scanlon earned a season-high five steals while also hitting three 3-pointers.
- Loyola's Andre Walker went 1-of-5 from behind the arc and finished with 16 points after torching the Terriers with nine treys and 35 total points back in January.
- BU shot 9-of-23 in 3-point territory after going 1-of-18 at Loyola back in January.
- The Terriers are 11-3 at home and own 11 home victories for the first time since going 11-6 in 2013-14.
