The Boston University men's lacrosse team will look to move to 3-0 for the second straight season on Saturday when the Terriers travel to Connecticut to face Hartford. Game time is set for 1 p.m.

BU (2-0) and Hartford (0-0) met for the first time last season at Nickerson Field, with the Hawks escaping Boston with a 16-10 win on Feb. 20. The Terriers trailed at halftime, 7-4, and cut the Hartford lead to 8-6 entering the fourth quarter before the Hawks opened that stanza with four straight goals. Ten different Terriers found the back of the net, with Jack Wilson and Brendan Homire each adding a pair of assists to secure three-point days.

This is the third straight week that the Terriers have faced a team playing its season opener. BU began its season at Providence and played UMass Lowell last week in the River Hawks' home opener. The Terriers went 2-1 in other teams' season openers last year, defeating Providence and UMass Lowell at home but falling to Hartford.

BU moved to 2-0 last Saturday with a convincing 18-8 win at UMass Lowell. The Terriers led by just two, 4-2, at the end of the first quarter but outscored the River Hawks, 8-1, in the second stanza to take a 12-3 lead into halftime. Seventeen different Terriers recorded a point and 13 different BU players had a goal, including sophomore James Burr with three. Senior Cal Dearth paced the offense with six points (1g, 5a). Junior Joe Stucky was terrific at the faceoff X, going 16-of-22 with eight ground balls.

Four of the five Terrier goalkeepers played on Saturday, with senior Christian Carson-Banister making 14 saves and freshman Joe McSorley stopping eight shots in his collegiate debut. Carson-Banister ranks fourth in the NCAA with a save percentage of .698 and he is third in the country in saves per game (15.0). His goals-against average of 7.15 is second in the PL and 11th in the NCAA. As a team, the Terriers have averaged 21.0 saves per game, the most in the nation.

Senior Cal Dearth earned preseason All-League and All-America accolades and certainly lived up to them last Saturday at Lowell. He had a game-high six points thanks to one goal and a game-high five assists. Dearth is averaging 2.50 assists per game, which ranks fifth in the league and 19th in the nation. BU is seventh in the country as a team in assists per game, averaging 9.50.

Hartford won the America East conference tournament last year, upsetting No. 1 seed Albany in the semifinals en route to the title and a berth in an NCAA play-in game. The Hawks return the top faceoff specialist in the country from a year ago, as Dylan Protesto won 70.8 percent of his faceoffs last season. Hartford also has its leading point producer back in Dylan Jinks (58), who is joined by Justin Huggins' 35 goals and Jaedon Henderson's 33 assists, both of which led the team last year. Goalkeeper Ryan Vanderford returns as well, having posted a 10.09 goals-against average and a .499 save percentage in 2016.

Patriot League play awaits the Terriers a week from Saturday when they travel to No. 17 Navy on Feb. 25 at 12 p.m.
