HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Terriers scored at least one run in each of the first five innings, starting with senior Moriah Connolly's triple and sophomore Alex Heinen's sacrifice fly.
- After EMU tied the game with the help of two walks and a passed ball, BU retook the lead in the top of the second with back-to-back doubles from seniors Gabi Martinez and Rachel Levine.
- The Eagles jumped out to a 4-2 advantage in the bottom of the second with three runs off four hits, two errors and two wild pitches ... They could have added more after loading the bases with one out, but junior Sydni Overly got a pop up and ground out to end the threat.
- BU then scored a combined four runs over the next three innings with Heinen hitting a two-run blast in the third and a sac fly in the fifth ... Martinez joined Heinen in hitting her first homer of the season in the fourth.
- Overly allowed just four hits over a four-inning stretch to enter the bottom of the seventh with a 6-4 lead that could have been larger, but BU was unable to take advantage of junior Emma Wong's lead-off triple in the top half with a pair of strikeouts.
- After EMU led off with a single, freshman Kali Magane entered the circle and quickly got a groundout ... The Eagles followed however with a walk and RBI single to pull within one.
- EMU was down to its final out after a ground out with two runners in scoring position and managed to escape with the win thanks to a passed ball and RBI single up the middle.
