THE SETUP
- Freshman Tyler Scanlon opened the game with a successful drive to the hoop for a layup and added a 3-pointer following Army's first of 21 turnovers to spark a 23-6 run capped by junior Eric Johnson's trey at 11:46.
- The Black Knights responded with a 10-2 spurt to cut the deficit to single digits, but junior Will Goff drained a 3-pointer at 8:01 to push the lead back to 28-16.
- Held off the scoreboard for four minutes, sophomore Kyle Foreman and senior Eric Fanning hit back-to-back buckets to grab BU's final double-digit lead of the game, as Jordan Fox immediately responded with a 3-pointer at 3:17.
- Tommy Funk and Luke Morrison both hit bombs in the final 70 seconds to give Army a 38-36 halftime after trailing by as many as 17 points early in the game.
- BU started the second half missing a pair of free throw attempts but managed to overcome Morrison's second of five 3-pointers and tie the game, 41-41, at 18:16 on senior Justin Alston's 3-point play highlighted by a dunk and Scanlon's short jumper.
- The Black Knights quickly regained the lead and pulled ahead by as many as seven (50-43) before the Terriers tied the game at 6:45 (58-58) and 4:37 (60-60), respectively.
- Jordan Fox put Army up for good with a jumper after freshman Max Mahoney found the cutting Scanlon for an easy layup.
- The Terriers then missed an open 3-point attempt and would never get another opportunity to either tie the game or retake the lead.
GAME NOTES
- Fanning went 7-of-15 and hit two 3-pointers to finish with 19 points, as the Terriers only had one player reach double figures in a game for the third time this season.
- After going 6-of-13 from three in the first half, BU went 1-of-8 in the second half while also going 5-of-12 at the charity stripe during the final 20 minutes of action.
- The Terriers outscored Army in points off turnovers, 21-10, behind a 12-6 advantage in steals.
- BU saw the last two opponents (Army and Bucknell) shoot over 50 percent from the field for the first time since Canisius and Syracuse hit the mark back in December.
- Army overcame a double-digit deficit for the second consecutive game after winning at Navy, 71-68, despite trailing by as many as 25 with little more than 12 minutes left in regulation.
- With one game remaining, the Terriers are currently tied for second in the PL with Lehigh at 11-6 ... BU owns the tiebreaker over the Mountain Hawks due to an earlier sweep, but could potentially fall to fourth in the seeding due to Navy (10-7 PL) owning a tiebreaker over the Terriers.
