Tyler Scanlon, combined for 37 points to help the Boston University men's basketball team rally from a 12-point first-half deficit and claim a 67-64 win at American on Wednesday night. With their fourth win in five games, BU improves to 14-11 (9-4 PL) and is assured of finishing .500 or better in conference play for the 17th straight season.

THE CLOSING STRETCH
- With the score tied, 58-58, for the fifth and final time with 4:01 remaining, freshman Max Mahoney drove to the hoop strong for a layup that put the Terriers ahead for good.
- One minute later, junior Eric Johnson fed senior Alston for a layup plus the free throw following the foul for BU's largest lead of the game (63-58).
- American pulled within one at both 15.3 and 4.2 seconds, respectively, but each time the Terriers in-bounded the ball and hit a pair of free throws thanks to senior Eric Fanning and freshman Tyler Scanlon to seal the win.
GAME NOTES
- The 12-point deficit (29-17) in the first half matched the largest in a win this season after the Terriers previously overcome a late 57-45 deficit to beat Northeastern at home, 65-63.
- With the win over the Eagles, the Terriers have clinched their third sweep of the season and their third straight regular season sweep against American.
- Sitting at 9-4, BU is assured of finishing .500 or greater for the 17th straight season, which is tied for the 11th longest streak nationally.
- Finishing 7-of-10 from the field and 7-of-9 at the line, Alston recorded a game-high 21 points, which was a personal best in Patriot League action ... All three of his 20+ point performances have come this season.
- Scanlon went 5-of-8 from the field and and drained three 3-pointers to earn 16 points, one shy of his season high.
