FULLERTON, Calif. – Held to a combined seven hits, the Boston University softball team ended the challenging LBSU/CSUF tournament with losses to both No. 10 UCLA (6-1) and defending Big West champion Cal State Fullerton (5-1) on Saturday afternoon. The morning contest against the Bruins marked the Terriers' first-ever matchup with the 11-time NCAA champions, and the evening matchup gave the Titans a weekend split after BU pulled out a 5-4 win 24 hours earlier.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Terriers grabbed an early 1-0 lead when senior Moriah Connolly earned a lead-off walk, took second on a ground out and scored on sophomore Alexa Ponce's two-out RBI single.
- Freshman Kali Magane pitched two scoreless innings before the 11-time national champion Bruins got to her with a two-RBI single and two-run homer.
- UCLA added another two-run blast in the fifth to push the lead to 6-1.
- BU tried to mount a rally in the final frame with junior Jilee Schanda reaching base on a UCLA error and sophomore Emily Morrow hitting a single, but the Bruins got three straight outs to preserve the victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- After mustering a combined three hits against freshman Lizzie Annerino over three innings, Cal State Fullerton claimed three more alone in the fourth, including a two-RBI double, to grab the lead for good.
- The Titans added a pair of RBI hits in the fifth to push the lead to 4-0.
- Sophomore Alex Heinen hit her team-leading fifth homer of the season to breakup the shutout bid in the sixth, but Cal State Fullerton kept the lead at four runs with another RBI single in the bottom half.
