The No. 19 Boston University men's lacrosse team will continue its three-game homestand on Tuesday when the Terriers welcome Harvard to Nickerson Field. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
This has become one of the better rivalries in college lacrosse, with each of the last two games ending in a 9-8 scoreline. The Terriers got the better of the Crimson last year as Cal Dearth scored the Terriers' final three goals as part of his four-goal, two-assist night at Harvard Stadium. Christian Carson-Banister's stop with the Terriers a man down in the final minute preserved the one-goal victory. He has stopped 62.2 percent of the shots he has faced in two starts against Harvard.
BU can improve to a perfect 6-0 in non-conference play with a victory over Harvard. Over the last two seasons, the Terriers are 10-2 against non-league foes.
The Terriers were one of five unbeaten teams left in the country entering this past weekend, but Bucknell earned a 12-6 win on Saturday at Nickerson. Junior Jack Wilson recorded four points on three goals and one assist while senior Cal Dearth, junior Ryan Hilburn and freshman Chase Levesque each found the back of the net as well.
Not only is the Terriers' scoring balanced this season - 21 different players have at least one goal - but it has been balanced throughout all four classes in every game. At least one player across three different class years has scored in all eight games this season, with a freshman, sophomore, junior and senior tallying a goal in the same game on three different occasions this season.
The Crimson began the season 4-0 but have dropped two straight games, losing to current No. 3 Penn State on March 11 and suffering a 13-8 setback to Brown this past Saturday. Junior Morgan Cheek leads Harvard in goals (21), assists (14) and points (35) this season. Junior Joe Lang is the only other Harvard player with more than 10 points, potting eight goals and adding six assists for 14 points.
Sophomore James Sullivan has taken the majority of Harvard's faceoffs, going 55-of-122 (.451) at the X. Junior Robert Shaw has started all six games for Harvard, posting a .561 save percentage and a 10.55 goals-against average.
Following Tuesday's game, the Terriers will host welcome Lafayette to Nickerson Field on Saturday, March 25, as part of the program's Homecoming Weekend. Game time is scheduled for 1 p.m.
