No. 19 Terriers Outlast Air Force, 8-6

BOSTON – Senior goalkeeper Christian Carson-Banister made 17 saves and junior Ryan Hilburn scored three goals to help lead the No. 19 Boston University men's lacrosse team to an 8-6 win over Air Force on Saturday afternoon at Nickerson Field.

TURNING POINT
- Air Force had a 2-0 lead after the first quarter, but BU scored the next seven goals over two quarters to take a 7-2 lead entering the fourth frame.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Falcons scored just seconds after winning the opening faceoff of the game and then followed with a goal late in the first quarter to take a 2-0 lead.
- BU responded with two goals in 30 seconds to tie the game, 2-2, with 9:20 remaining in the first half. Freshman Chase Levesque's first collegiate goal tied the contest off a feed from senior Cal Dearth in transition.
- Hilburn and Dearth each followed Levesque's marker with goals of their own to create a 5-2 halftime score.
- BU made it 6-2 less than 2:00 into the third quarter when junior Jack Wilson fed Hilburn for the second time on the afternoon. Dearth then notched his second goal of the game with 1:50 left to make it 7-2 after 45 minutes.
- Air Force tallied the next three goals, beginning just 1:08 into the fourth quarter. The Falcons got within two at 7-5 with 8:43 left, but sophomore Brendan Homire's second helper of the day created a goal from Wilson to put the game out of reach.
- The Falcons added a late marker with 18 seconds remaining in regulation to make it 8-6.
GAME NOTES
- Wilson extended his point streak to 32 games thanks to his three-point day.
- This win continues the best start in program history for BU, which moved to 6-0.
- Levesque had a career day for the Terriers. In addition to his goal, he collected a career-high six ground balls.
- Senior Dominick Calisto matched his career high with six ground balls of his own in addition to a team-high three caused turnovers.
- Junior Joe Stucky went 3-of-4 from the faceoff X in the third quarter to help keep Air Force off the board.
- Seven of Carson-Banister's 17 saves came in the fourth quarter.
NEXT UP
- BU will return to Patriot League play next weekend when the Terriers travel to Colgate on March 11.
