SAN DIEGO, Calif. – After participating in the San Diego Classic over the weekend, the Boston University softball team will resume its spring break trip wth a doubleheader at Loyola Marymount on Tuesday. First pitch is slated for 3 p.m. ET.

TERRIER TIDBITS
  • The Terriers are 6-8 but three of the losses were by one run, and they were six outs away from another victory on Sunday before errors doomed BU in a 9-5 loss to defending MAC champion Miami Ohio.
  • Through 14 games, BU is batting .286 and is holding opponents to a lower .276, but opponents own a 41-24 advantage in walks.
  • Batting a team-high .386, senior Moriah Connolly went 7-of-15 (.438 avg.) this past weekend at the San Diego Classic with five of her team-high 13 runs and five of her 12 stolen bases.
  • Junior Kaitlin Sahlinger is second on the team at .351 average and is one of four other Terriers batting over .300.
  • BU already owns seven homers so far after totaling 10 last year ... Senior Gabi Martinez (.333 avg.) and sophomore Alex Heinen (.292 avg.) have three homers apiece and have combined for 19 RBIs.
  • In the circle, senior Makinna Akers (3-1, 2.69 ERA) and junior Sydni Overly (0-2, 5.62 ERA) held San Diego to a combined six hits for a 3-0 victory and the program's second shutout of the season.
  • Akers is holding opponents to a .236 avg., while freshman Kali Magane (3-4,  2.62 ERA) is holding teams to .264.
SCOUTING LOYOLA MARYMOUNT
  • The Lions are 5-9 so far after going 32-21 last season and are 0-3 at home with three losses to Michigan State (3-0, 7-5, 7-5) ... They own wins over UC Riverside (3-2), North Dakota State (5-2) and Liberty (10-8).
  • LMU is currently batting .251 as a team while holding opponents to .290 ... The Lions are 6-of-10 in stolen base attempts, and opponents are 21-of-26.
  • Irma Sanchez leads LMU batting .333 with seven runs scored, while Caitlin Harman (.300) owns two homers and team-high eight RBIs.
  • Hanna Bandimere (4-3, 3.12 ERA) has made eight starts and completed four of the games ... She is holding opposing batters to .259 with 25 strikeouts in 43.1 innings.
  • Rachael Farrington (1-3, 8.51) and Andy Wellins (0-3, 10.91 ERA) have combined for the other six starts.
SERIES HISTORY
  • The teams met for the first time last season with a doubleheader hosted by LMU.
  • The Lions won the first game, 3-1, with a two-run blast in the sixth and then claimed a 6-5 victory on a walk-off solo shot for the sweep.
  • Sophomore Emily Morrow led the Terriers batting a combined 5-of-7 with three RBIs.
