BOSTON – Concluding a two-game homestand, the Boston University men's basketball team will host Loyola Maryland on Wednesday night with tip-off slated for 7 p.m.

TERRIER TIDBITS
  • BU is currently tied-for-second in the Patriot League standings at 7-3 with Colgate, two games behind Bucknell.
  • The Terriers are 3-2 at home in conference play, starting off with wins over Army (90-82), Lehigh (92-81) and Colgate (72-58) ... They've dropped the last two to American (69-58) and the Bison (91-79).
  • On Sunday, freshman Walter Whyte became the ninth Terrier to lead BU in scoring in a game this season with 14 points while adding a game-high 10 rebounds for his second double-double ... Both he and classmate Javante McCoy have started 19 games apiece and are averaging a combined 17.9 ppg in conference play.
  • Sophomore Tyler Scanlon (9.8 ppg) remains the only Terrier to have started every game ... He is averaging a team-high 5.5 rpg, 2.6 apg and 1.3 spg.
  • Senior and leading scorer Cedric Hankerson (13.7 ppg) has missed the last two games and three total in PL action due to injury ... No. 2 scorer and sophomore Max Mahoney (12.0 ppg) ranks fifth in the PL in shooting at 57.2 percent ... Those two men along with senior Nick Havener (7.7 ppg) have all reached 20+ points in the month of January.
  • BU ranks 75th nationally at 46.9 FG% and 78th in steals (7.2 spg) ... On the flip side, the Terriers are 349th in FT% (.621) but are shooting a far more palatable 68.7 FT% in conference play.
SCOUTING LOYOLA MARYLAND
  • The Greyhounds are in a three-way tie for fourth in the Patriot League standings at 5-5 with Army West Point and Navy after claiming back-to-back wins over Lehigh (91-88 2OT) and the Black Knights (79-68).
  • The win against the Mountain Hawks marked Loyola's first on the road this season ... The Greyhounds are 1-11 on the road compared to their 6-3 home record with close losses at Northwestern (79-75), Dartmouth (64-63), Mount St. Mary's (80-75 OT) and Colgate (77-72).
  • Loyola is averaging 72.0 ppg and features five Greyhounds in double figures ... Reigning PL Player of the Week Andre Walker (17.5 ppg) is averaging 26.5 points over the last five contests following a 43-point performance against Lafayette and 32-point game against Army.
  • Cam Gregory is nearly averaging a double-double at 12.9 ppg and 8.6 rpg, while Isaiah Hart (10.9 ppg) leads the Greyhounds in assists (3.0 apg) ... Andrew Kostecka (10.7 ppg) is averaging 2.3 spg to help Loyola rank 67th nationally in steals (7.4 spg).

SERIES HISTORY
  • BU leads the all-time series, 8-5, with a 5-0 home mark and is 7-3 since joining the PL in the summer of 2013 with all three losses taking place at Reitz Arena.
  • BU won the first meeting in 1996 on a neutral court in FL and then dropped the next two at Loyola in the 2012 BracketBusters and 2013 CollegeInsider.com Postseason Tournament before the two schools joined the PL.
  • In the 2017 PL Quarterfinals at home, BU led by 13 at the half but only held on for a 64-60 win despite shooting 50.0 FG% and holding the Greyhounds to 36.0 FG% ... Loyola's Walker led all players with 27 points, as the teams combined for 36 turnovers and 19 steals.
  • On Jan. 5, Mahoney just missed a go-ahead turnaround jumper with five seconds remaining, as Loyola escaped with a 68-65 win after leading by as many as 11 earlier in the second half ... Walker burned the Terriers with 27 points again, shooting 10-of-20 with four 3-pointers, while Mahoney had 22 points for the Terriers.
