BALTIMORE, Md. – Remaining on the road following an impressive 84-79 win at defending Patriot League champion Bucknell, the Boston University men's basketball team will visit Loyola Maryland Friday night with tip-off slated for 7 p.m.

TERRIER TIDBITS
  • With wins over the Bison and Army West Point (90-82), the Terriers are just one of two unbeaten teams in the PL alongside Colgate.
  • BU is 4-4 on the road compared to 2-3 at home and needs one more win to reach .500 for the first time this season after opening the year with three straight losses ... Head coach Joe Jones is also one win away from 200 career victories with 86 taking place at Columbia.
  • After earning his first-ever Patriot League Player of the Week Award on Tuesday, senior Cedric Hankerson scored 21 points at Bucknell to increase his team-high scoring average to 15.8 ppg.
  • Sophomore Tyler Scanlon (8.3 ppg, 4.4 rpg, 2.6 apg) is the only other Terrier alongside Hankerson to have started all 13 contests ... He claimed his first-career double-double and BU's third of the season against the Bison with 14 points and personal-best 10 rebounds.
  • Senior Will Goff leads the PL in 3-point shooting percentage (.586) after hitting seven treys on seven attempts against Bucknell en route to a career-high 17 points.
  • Goff also added a personal-best three steals in the game, as BU finished with 13 total at Bucknell ... The Terriers currently rank 67th nationally in steals at 7.5 spg.
  • Starting freshmen Javante McCoy and reigning PL Rookie of the Week Walter Whyte are averaging a combined 15.9 ppg ... Whyte tallied 16 points alone in the win over Army, and McCoy recorded 13 at Bucknell with the help of four clutch free throws in the final minute of regulation.
  • Sophomore Max Mahoney (11.0 ppg, 4.7 rpg) leads the team in shooting at 58.6 FG%.
  • The Terriers are averaging 74.0 ppg and 46.2 FG% while holding opponents to 75.3 ppg and 46.0 FG% ... On Tuesday, Bucknell was held to 43.3 FG% after shooting 49.0+ FG% in six consecutive contests.
SCOUTING LOYOLA MARYLAND
  • Injury-plagued Loyola is 3-2 at home compared to the 0-8 road mark with wins over Drexel, Navy and Goucher ... They have closely contested road losses at Northwestern (79-75), Dartmouth (64-63) and Mount St. Mary's (80-75 OT).
  • The Greyhounds were the No. 7 seed last season in the PL tournament but were the only ones to claim a win during the conference schedule against the top three seeds – No. 1 Bucknell (split), No. 2 BU (split) and No. 3 Lehigh (sweep).
  • 6-foot-3 guard Chuck Champion leads Loyola in scoring at 17.3 ppg but has only played eight games due to injury ... He along with the other four top scorers on the team appeared in both Patriot League games so far.
  • 6-foot-8 forward Cam Gregory is nearly averaging a double-double at 13.2 ppg and 9.3 rpg, while 6-foot-0 guard Andre Walker is averaging 13.0 ppg and 3.1 apg.
  • 5-foot-11 guard Isaiah Hart (11.4 ppg, 2.7 apg) and 6-foot-4 guard Andrew Kostecka (10.4 ppg, 4.1 rpg) are also averaging double figures, but Kostecka has only managed to appear in nine games.
  • Loyola is averaging 71.4 ppg and 44.4 FG% while holding opponents to 75.2 ppg and 46.0 FG% ... The Greyhounds rank 323rd nationally in made 3-pointers per game (5.6).
SERIES HISTORY
  • BU leads the all-time series, 8-4, with a 5-0 home mark and is 7-2 since joining the PL in the summer of 2013 with boss losses occurring at Reitz Arena.
  • BU won the first meeting in 1996 on a neutral court in FL and then dropped the next two at Loyola in the 2012 BracketBusters and 2013 CollegeInsider.com Postseason Tournament before the two schools joined the PL.
  • In the 2017 PL Quarterfinals at home, BU led by 13 at the half but only held on for a 64-60 win despite shooting 50.0 FG% and holding the Greyhounds to 36.0 FG% ... Andre Walker led all players with 27 points ... If Nick Havener is unable to play due to injury on Friday, BU will only return 24 points from the game.
  • In the first meeting of the year, Loyola jumped out to a 20-5 lead in the first six minutes with Walker hitting four of his career- high nine 3-pointers ... BU eventually pulled within four (69-65) with 43s left but Loyola hit a pair of free throws and forced a Terrier turnover to help seal the win ... Walker tallied 35 points, the most scored by an individual last season against the Terriers.
