BOSTON – In a game that featured four ties and leads by both teams, the Boston University men's ice hockey team battled to a 5-5 draw with No. 13/14 Northeastern on Thursday evening at Matthews Arena in the opener of a home-and-home series.
Five different Terriers scored, including junior Chad Krys, who potted his first goal of the season with 7:33 left in regulation on a power play to send the game to overtime.
BU moves to 0-4-1 (0-2-1 Hockey East) while the Huskies now stand at 4-2-1 (1-0-1 Hockey East).
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Huskies wasted little time getting on the board, recording the first four shots of the game and scoring on two of them to chase BU starter Max Prawdzik.
- On the first shot of the game, Grant Jozefek fired a shot through Prawdzik's pads from the right circle 2:07 in the game.
- Just 64 seconds later, Bobby Hampton tipped in a pass at the left post to give the home team a 2-0 lead.
- Sophomore Logan Cockerill cut the deficit in half with his first shorthanded goal as a Terrier, racing to a loose puck to create a breakaway before beating NU netminder Cayden Primeau blocker side with 5:51 left in the opening period.
- A left-point attempt by sophomore Kasper Kotkansalo was tipped by junior Patrick Curry to the top left corner of the goal to make it a 2-2 affair 3:13 into the middle period.
- The Huskies quickly regained the lead, however, as a wrister by Patrick Schule from the right side found the far corner at 4:31.
- Schule's tally was initially called no-goal but it took more than two minutes of play without a whistle before the officials could do a video review.
- BU scored twice in a span of 1:23 to take the lead.
- Junior Patrick Harper curled around the back of the net before finding freshman Joel Farabee in front at 2:42 before senior Bobo Carpenter tipped in an offering by sophomore David Farrance at 4:05 to make it 4-3 in the visitors' favor.
- A controversial too many men call followed by a cross-checking penalty gave the Huskies a lengthy 5-on-3 advantage that Jozefek turned into a goal, making it 4-4 with 13:54 left in regulation.
- Schulz once again provided a go-ahead goal for the Huskies, winning a race to the puck before tucking a shot past BU goaltender Jake Oettinger midway through the third.
- BU ended an 0-for-21 power-play drought to create the fourth tie of the night as Primeau got a good piece of a right-point shot by Krys before it found the back of the net at 12:27.

- It was the first time since Dec. 5, 2015 (5-3 win at Vermont) that the Terriers had at least 50 shots in a game.
