BOSTON – After recording a split against a pair of conference preseason favorites, the Boston University men's basketball team will wrap up the first week of the regular season by hosting Emerson on Sunday at 1 p.m.

As part of Military Appreciation and Youth Day promotions, there will be free admission for military with ID and kids 8th grade and below. Other fans can also receive a discounted ticket by bringing a nonperishable food item to the game.

TERRIER TIDBITS
  • BU opened the season with a 77-74 win at CAA preseason favorite Northeastern and then went back-and-forth in a 78-72 home loss America East favorite Vermont on Friday ... Following Sunday's game against NCAA Division III member Emerson, the Terriers will face two more 20+ win D1 squads in Albany (Wednesday) and Eastern Michigan (Saturday, Nov. 17) on the road.
  • Juniors Tyler Scanlon and Max Mahoney are averaging a combined 31.5 ppg and 13.5 rpg after combining for 14.0 ppg and 7.5 rpg in the first two games of last season.
  • Sophomore Javante McCoy is also averaging double figures at 11.5 ppg while owning a team-high seven assists.
  • The team has demonstrated its depth so far this season with 11 Terriers averaging at least 9.0 minutes per game, and that list doesn't include the currently injured 2018 All-PL Rookie Team honoree Walter Whyte.
  • Freshman Fletcher Tynen is coming off the bench averaging 7.0 ppg and 4.0 rpg with redshirt-freshman Alex Vilarino next at 6.0 ppg.
  • Through two games, BU is shooting 46.7 percent from the field and holding opponents to 44.8 FG%, though teams are averaging 4.0 more made free throws a game.
  • The Terriers own a positive 4.5 rebounding average with opponents forcing 2.5 more turnovers.
SCOUTING EMERSON
  • Located approximately three miles away from BU, the Lions are an NCAA Division III member who went 10-15 last season with a 5-8 road record.
  • Emerson posted a 4-10 conference mark to finish sixth in the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) standings and just miss out on the five-team conference tournament.
  • The Lions averaged 74.0 ppg while shooting 43.8 FG% and held opponents to 73.0 ppg and 44.5 FG%.
  • 6-foot-2 guard Geoffrey Gray led Emerson last season at 21.1 ppg, 9.4 rpg and 4.1 apg while shooting 49.5 FG%.
  • 6-foot-6 guard Jack O'Connor also averaged double figures at 14.3 ppg and added 4.9 rpg.
SERIES HISTORY
  • BU is facing the Lions for the first time in program history.
  • For the second consecutive year though, the Terriers will be hosting a squad from the NEWMAC following last year's 83-48 win over Wheaton College.
