Game Recap: Men's Ice Hockey |

Terriers Fall to BC, 4-1, in Series Opener

BOSTON – Despite opening the scoring, the Boston University men's ice hockey dropped a 4-1 contest to Boston College on Friday evening in front of a sellout crowd at Agganis Arena.

Junior Chad Krys scored on a power play 7:23 into the game before BC's Logan Hutsko potted a pair of goals in the second to give the Eagles a lead they would not relinquish.

The Terriers move to 4-7-1 overall and an even 4-4-1 in Hockey East play while BC now stands at 4-6-1 with a 4-1-1 conference mark.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • After not being able to convert on a major power play in the early minutes of the game, BU found itself back on the man advantage soon after and used it to get on the board first.
  • Krys buried a shot from the left circle following some slick passing by sophomore Shane Bowers and freshman Joel Farabee for his third goal of the season.
  • BU continued its strong play for the remainder of the opening period before settling for 1-0 lead heading into the first intermission.
  • The Terriers had some great chances to establish a multi-goal lead, including a doorstep offering by Farabee that BC netminder Joseph Woll stopped with the blade of his skate, but the Eagles didn't allow any more damage.
  • Hutsko scored from the high slot off a faceoff for an equalizer at 11:36 of the second before scoring from the top of the right circle just under six minutes later to put BC on top.
  • With the Terriers looking to draw even in the third, BC's Christopher Brown notched an insurance goal at 5:02 of the period, giving the visitors a 3-1 lead.
  • Freshman Marc McLaughlin added an empty-netter – his first collegiate goal – with 2:01 to play to create the 4-1 final.

GAME NOTES

  • Woll turned in an impressive 38-save performance for the Eagles.
  • Junior Jake Oettinger made 27 stops in goal for BU, which held a 39-31 shot advantage.
  • The BU power play went 1-for-3 on the night and the Terriers allowed just one BC power play, which was successfully killed off.
