Oettinger Tabbed Hockey East Goaltender of the Month

After helping the Boston University men's ice hockey team put together a six-game unbeaten streak, sophomore Jake Oettinger has been named the Hockey East Stop It Goaltending Goaltender of the Month for January.
Oettinger returned from World Juniors with a bronze medal and then turned in an impressive January to get the Terriers back on track. He started all seven games in the month, posting a 1.98 goals-against average and a .926 save percentage. BU went 5-1-1 in those seven contests and brings a six-game unbeaten streak (5-0-1) into February.
The sophomore started off the month with a 34-save performance in a loss to Maine before stopping 26 shots in a 3-2 win at UNH. He stopped 54 of 58 shots in a weekend sweep of Merrimack before picking up his third shutout of the season with a 23-save effort in a 8-0 win at Arizona State on Jan. 26.
This is the first Hockey East award of the season for Oettinger, who received the monthly goaltending award once last season as a rookie.
For the season, Oettinger now has a 2.63 goals-against average to go along with a .908 save percentage.
