Terriers Compete at Last Chance Meet

BOSTON - The Boston University men's and women's track & field teams continued their indoor season by hosting the Last Chance Meet at the TTC on Sunday, the final day of the season for athletes to qualify for the NCAA Championships.

TOP PERFORMANCES  
  • Senior Tehya Noell capped her terrific indoor season by setting a new personal best in the long jump with a 5.96m (19' 6.75") jump, good for third place.
  • Senior Paige Ferrucci competed in the 1-mile run and finished with a time of 5:03.21, first in her section and 21st overall in a field of 36.
  • Sophomore Lauren Gruber competed in 800m run and finished with a time of 2:24.07.
  • Also competing for the Terriers was sophomore Paul Luevano of the men's track & field team. Luevano competed in the mile run and finished with a time of 4:11.69, in 41st place. He was the only member of the men's team to compete.
RECORD BREAKERS
  • In the final event of the meet, Joe McAsey, Kyle Merber, Chris Giesting and Jesse Garn of the HOKA NJ-NY Track Club broke the world record in the 4x800m relay with a time of 7:11.03. All three entries in the 4x800 race came in under the previous world record of of 7:13.1.
  • Earlier in the meet, Josh Hoey of Bishop Shanahan High School in Downington, Pa. set a new national high school 800m record with a time of 1:47.67.
