BOSTON – With six regular season games remaining, the Boston University men's basketball team will wrap up a two-game road trip at Colgate on Wednesday night with the battle for sole possession of second place in the Patriot League standings slated for 7 p.m.

The two teams are two games behind Bucknell and one ahead of both Army West Point and Navy.

TERRIER TIDBITS
  • BU is 7-6 on the road this season and will look to rebound from Saturday's 80-75 loss at Lehigh in which the Terriers grabbed an eight-point second half lead after trailing by as many as 11 in the first half.
  • Senior and leading scorer Cedric Hankerson (13.7 ppg) has missed each of the last four Patriot League games due to injury.
  • In Hankerson's absence, three of his teammates have reached 20+ points with sophomore Tyler Scanlon (10.3 ppg) posting a career-high 24 points with the help of six 3-pointers at Lehigh ... Sophomore Max Mahoney (12.4 ppg) went 12-of-14 from the field last Wednesday for 27 points in a 64-55 win against Loyola Maryland, and one week earlier, senior Nick Havener (7.8 ppg) tallied a personal-best 21 points for the 75-72 win at Lafayette.
  • Two guards have also stepped up in their production ... Boosted by a season-high seven assists at Lehigh, senior Eric Johnson is averaging 4.0 apg and 3.6 rpg over the last five games ... Freshman Andrew Petcash tallied 11 points and added a season-high three steals against the Mountain Hawks as well.
  • Freshman Walter Whyte is averaging 12.8 ppg and 7.8 rpg over the last four games and ranks second on the team at 5.1 rpg, just behind Scanlon's 5.5 rpg ... Both he and fellow freshman Javante McCoy are averaging a combined 18.1 ppg in conference play.
  • BU ranks 54th nationally in 3FG% (.381), 65th in steals (7.3 spg) and 76th in FG% (.468).
SCOUTING COLGATE
  • The Raiders have played well in the new year, winning five of their last six games and 10 out of the last 14 contests ... They are 8-2 at home compared to their 5-8 road mark with losses to Bucknell (63-51) and Lafayette (71-68).
  • Colgate shared two non-conference opponents with the Terriers, as both fell to UConn and Albany.
  • Colgate ranks 39th nationally in made 3-pointers per game (9.6) and 93rd in 3FG percentage (.367) ... The Raiders also rank 54th in FT percentage (.752).
  • Colgate has four Raiders averaging double figures in scoring with reigning PL Rookie of the Year Will Rayman leading in both points (14.1 ppg) and rebounds (6.5 rpg).
  • Jordan Swopshire is second at 12.7 ppg with Sean O'Brien (11.0 ppg) and Jordan Burns (12.4 ppg) close behind.
  • Colgate is averaging 74.1 ppg and 44.9 FG% while holding opponents to 72.0 ppg and 45.1 FG%, respectively.
SERIES HISTORY
  • BU owns a 27-19 all-time record in the series that dates back to 1933-34 ... Both teams were together in the America East from 1979-1989.
  • They met for the first time in 2014 since Colgate left to join the PL with BU claiming a sweep en route to the Patriot League regular season title.
  • After Colgate claimed a sweep in 2015, the teams have posted a split with the home teams winning in 2016 and the road teams winning in 2017.
  • Back on Jan. 11, BU built 31-24 halftime lead and never saw lead cut below seven rest of the way in a 72-58 victory ... The second half was a slog, as the teams combined for 41 FT attempts after recording just six total in the first ... BU went 9-of-10 FT during the final 2:30 after opening game 8-of-16.
  • Colgate was held to 18-of-61 FG (.295) and and 6-of-34 3FG (.176).
