BOSTON – The Boston University women's tennis team wrapped up the home slate by first honoring senior
Iryna Kostirko and then rolling to a 7-0 victory over Rhode Island on Friday afternoon at the Track & Tennis Center.
With their fourth sweep of the season, the Terriers (7-9) improve to 5-0 at home while the Rams fall to 1-13.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Junior Remi Ramos and freshman Lily Burchell claimed a 6-3 win at line 1 before Kostirko and freshman Emily Kim posted a 6-4 victory at line 2 to give the Terriers a 1-0 lead.
- Both Ramos (#2) and freshman Katya Martens (#4) cruised to singles victories by dropping a combined three games.
- Kim held off Hala Davis for a 6-4, 7-6(3) victory at line 3.
- Kostirko rallied from a set down to defeat Rachel Smilansky, 4-6, 6-1, 10-3, in the top singles slot.
- The Rams forfeited the No. 3 doubles match and a pair of singles matches at lines 5-6, as the Terriers completed the sweep.
NEXT UP: UCONN
- The Terriers will hit the road and visit UConn on Saturday, April 7 with a 12 p.m. start time.
- The Huskies defeated BU at home, 6-1, last season.
