WORCESTER, Mass. - Unable to mount a rally after dropping the doubles point, the Boston University men's tennis team fell to defending Patriot League champion, Army West Point, 4-1, on Friday afternoon at Holy Cross' Sinnott Family Tennis Facility.
The Black Knights (14-10, 5-0 PL) won two of the three doubles matches to jump out to a 1-0 lead and then captured three singles points, including two in straight sets, against the Terriers (11-10, 1-1 PL).
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Freshman Ethan Kolsky and Owen Lu claimed a 7-5 win at No. 3 doubles, but the Black Knights were victorious at the top two slots by a combined score of 12-4 to earn the first point.
- Sophomore Marc Sable led BU in singles by rolling to a 6-2, 6-4 victory at line 6.
- Army extended the lead to 3-1 by dropping just nine combined games in straight-set wins in the No. 3 and 4 slots.
- Junior Satyajit Simhadri opened the top singles match by winning the first set, but Michael Nguyen rallied for a 2-6, 6-0, 6-3 victory.
- Freshman Owen Lu was one game away from giving the Terriers another point when his match was halted at line 2 (6-2, 4-6, 5-3).
- Freshman Pete Siozios also won his first set but was trailing in the third at line 5 (6-4, 4-6, 1-4) when his match was stopped as well.
