TERRIERS IN THE TOURNAMENT
- BU earned its first-ever postseason berth last year and advanced to the semifinal round after a 10-4 win over Lehigh in the quarterfinals.
- The Terriers were edged in their next game against Army West Point, 10-7.
- Tuesday will be the Terriers' first true road game in the Patriot League Tournament, as they hosted Lehigh before facing Army at Loyola.
EARLIER THIS YEAR AT BUCKNELL
- BU led the Bison, 9-7, at halftime, but Bucknell went on to defeat the Terriers, 16-9, on March 17.
- Freshman Chris Gray notched seven points (3g, 4a) while junior James Burr (2g, 1a) and senior Jack Wilson (3g) each recorded three points.
- Senior Hayden Ruiz (1g, 1a) and sophomore John MacLean (2a) added two points apiece.
- Senior Isaac Lipton collected six ground balls and also forced a turnover.
- Freshman Sean Christman went 16-of-24 at the faceoff X with four ground balls.
- Sophomore Joe McSorley made 10 saves.
SCOUTING THE BISON
- Bucknell enters Tuesday on a six-game winning streak, with its last three victories coming at home.
- The Bison have lost just once in their last eight games.
- First Team All-Patriot League honoree Will Sands leads Bucknell with 73 point thanks to 53 assists.
- Fellow first-team selection Sean O'Brien has tallied a team-high 40 goals while second-team attackman Connor O'Hara has notched 36 goals.
- Defensively, Bucknell is led by second-team defenders Matt Gilray (27 GB, 13 CT) and Benny Borgognone (29 GB, 18 CT).
- Faceoff specialist Jarett Witzal went 140-of-299 (.468) at the X this season and collected 47 ground balls.
- Goalkeeper Christian Klipstein started all 14 games for the Bison, going 9-3 with a .507 save percentage and an 8.81 goals-against average.
HISTORY WITH BUCKNELL
- The Terriers are 1-4 all-time against the Bison, with the lone win coming at Nickerson Field during the 2015 season.
- Bucknell is 3-0 at home against the Terriers and has held BU to an average of 6.0 goals per game in those three tilts.
GRAY NAMED ROOKIE OF THE YEAR
- Freshman Chris Gray became the first Terrier to be named Patriot League Rookie of the Year on Monday.
- Gray earned the nod after he led all freshmen with 59 points thanks to 25 goals and 34 assists.
- He notched at least five points in seven games, including a school-record 10 points (2g, 8a) at Harvard on March 20.Ā
- Gray recorded at least one point in all 14 games and also added 17 ground balls.Ā
- Added to the 2018 Tewaaraton Watch List on April 12, Gray was the only freshman on the All-Patriot League First Team.
- The Wading River, New York, native was also named the No. 3 freshman by Inside Lacrosse in the publication's midseason rankings that were released last week.
GRAY, WILSON EARN ALL-LEAGUE HONORS
- Freshman Chris Gray was named to the All-Patriot League First Team and senior Jack Wilson was selected to the All-Patriot League Second Team on Monday.
- This is the fourth straight year in which BU has boasted at least two All-Patriot League honorees and at least one first-team choice.
- Gray, the conference Rookie of the Year, was the lone freshman to be chosen on the first team after he led all NCAA rookies in points (59) and assists (34).
- Wilson earned his second straight second-team nod after he notched 40 points (25g, 15a) and extended his point streak to 57 games entering the playoffs.
- Named to the initial TewaaratonĀ Watch List in March, WilsonĀ scored a goal in 11 of his 14 starts at attack.Ā
- He also recorded 11 multi-point efforts, including eight multi-goal contests, and added 27 ground balls.Ā
- Wilson joins Cal Dearth, Sam Talkow and Greg Wozniak as Terriers that have earned multiple All-Patriot League honors.
50 STRAIGHT AND COUNTING FOR JACK
- Senior Jack Wilson moved his point streak to 57 games with his assist at Holy Cross.
- Wilson has only been held without a point once in his entire career.Ā
- In those 57Ā games, Wilson has tallied 96Ā goals and 59Ā assists for 155 points.
- Wilson has tallied 25 goals and 15 assists for 40 points this year.
- He has notched five hat tricks this season and has found the back of the net in 11 of the last 13 contests.
BURR KEEPS SCORING
- Junior James Burr leads the Terriers and is tied for 13th in the nation with 35 goals this season.
- That total is tied for third among Patriot League players.
- Burr averages 2.50 goals per game, which is fourth best in the conference.
- He has tallied at least one goal in every game and at least two goals in 12 of the Terriers' 14 contests.
- His five goals and six points at Harvard on March 20 matched his career high in both categories, which he first set at Air Force on March 3 with five goals and one assist.
- Burr has added 10 assists for 45 points, which is good for second on the squad.
- He also became the fourth player in program history to reach the 100-point milestone (87g, 24a).
MAN-UP MAGIC
- The Terriers boast the third-ranked man-up offense in the country.
- BU has converted on 59.5% of its EMOs this season, going 22-of-37.
- The Terriers are third in the NCAA in total man-up goals.
- BU went 2-for-3 against Holy Cross this past Friday.
TWO TERRIERS EARN WEEKLY HONORS
- Freshman Chris Gray and sophomore Joe McSorley each earned weekly awards from the Patriot League on Monday.
- Gray was selected as Rookie of the Week for the second time while McSorley picked up his fourth Goalkeeper of the Week nod.
- McSorley made 10 saves and gathered four ground balls in the Terriers' 9-4 win at Holy Cross.
- Gray recorded his fourth hat trick of the season as part of a five-point effort.
