No. 11 Navy Defeats Women's Lacrosse, 23-6

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Closing out the regular season at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium, the Boston University women's lacrosse team could not slow down No. 11 Navy as it dropped a 23-6 decision Saturday afternoon.

How It Happened
  • Navy's duo of Julia and Jenna Collins each scored within a 17-second span to push the Mids out to an early 2-0 advantage.
  • Kailey Conry started the attack for the Terriers, working solo from behind the cage to put BU on the board four minutes in.
  • The Collins registered back-to-back scores again, but BU responded with its own 2-0 streak as freshmen Emily Vervlied and Ava Barry each snapped one-timers to make it a two-goal game with 13:07 left in the first.
  • The Mids closed out the half with an 8-0 run to take a 10-goal lead into the break.
  • Kaitlin Belval kicked off the second half by scooping by a loose ball inside the crease and slotting it past the keeper to cut the deficit to single digits, but the Mids answered less than a minute later to go back up by 10.
  • Lewis and Vervlied each tabbed their second scores of the day, as Lewis bounced in a shot just under the crossbar and Vervlied worked a give-and-go with Conry.
  • Navy held the Terriers scoreless for the final 15 minutes of the game to take the game by a final score of 23-6.
Game Notes
  • Saturday marked the fourth ranked opponent the Terriers have played this season.
  • Christine Laible finished with a career-high 14 stops, marking her 11th double-digit save performance of the season.
  • Belval led the team with four draw controls, while Tonianne Magnelli followed with three decisions.
  • Maria Guerra caused at least two turnovers for the ninth time this season.
  • BU was called for seven yellow cards and 24 fouls.
