
Terriers to Host Yale Tuesday Night

The Boston University women's ice hockey team will begin a three-game homestand on Tuesday night when the Terriers welcome Yale to Walter Brown Arena. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m.
HOME SWEET HOME
- BU will begin a three-game homestand on Tuesday night.
- This will be the first time all year that the Terriers play back-to-back home games.
- They've only played twice at home this season; the Terriers tied Merrimack, 2-2, on Oct. 11 and lost to No. 4 Northeastern, 2-1, on Nov. 1.
- BU will host No. 6 Boston College on Friday night before welcoming No. 9 Harvard next Tuesday night.
HISTORY WITH THE BULLDOGS
- BU is 4-1-1 against Yale, including a 5-2 road win in the teams' last meeting on Dec. 7, 2017.
- The Terriers are a perfect 3-0-0 against Yale at Walter Brown Arena, including a 7-1 triumph in the Bulldogs' last trip to BU on Nov. 3, 2015.
- The one loss to Yale came in the Terriers' first game against the Bulldogs on Nov. 25, 2008.
LAST TIME AGAINST YALE
- Victoria Bach ('18) scored four goals in a 5-2 win at Yale on Dec. 7, 2017.
- Abbey Stanley also lit the lamp and added an assist for a two-point night.
- Abby Cook, Nara Elia and Breanna Scarpaci all had one assist apiece.
- Corinne Schroeder made 10 saves in each period to finish with 30 for the game.
SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS
- Yale is off to a 5-1-0 start, including home shutouts this past weekend against Union (5-0) and RPI (3-0).
- The Bulldogs' one loss came on Nov. 2 against Harvard, a 5-2 road defeat.
- Yale's four wins have come against teams with a combined record of 3-26-2.
- Senior goaltender Tera Hofmann is 4-0-0 and leads the NCAA in both save percentage (.983) and goals-against average (0.26).
- Freshman Elle Hartje leads the Bulldogs with five goals and 11 points.
- Her six assists are tied for second behind sophomore Claire Dalton and her seven helpers.
- Sixteen different Yale skaters have at least one point, including 12 with two or more points.
COULD BE A DEFENSIVE BATTLE
- BU and Yale are two of the best defensive teams in the country.
- Yale has allowed just 1.33 goals per game, which is tied for fourth in the country, while BU is seventh at 1.60 goals allowed per game.
NEARIS NAMED LEAGUE'S TOP ROOKIE
- Freshman forward Julia Nearis was named Hockey East Rookie of the Week on Monday.
- Nearis was instrumental in the Terriers' 2-1 win at Providence as she scored both goals.
- She also blocked a shot and won the only faceoff she took.
INSIDE NEARIS' STRONG START
- Nearis has been sensational this season for BU, as she leads the squad with six goals.
- Saturday was her second multi-goal game of the season; she also scored twice at Penn State on Oct. 26.
- Nearis has notched five goals over the last four games, including the Terriers' last three goals.
- She is second among NCAA and Hockey East rookies with six goals, which is also good for sixth overall in the conference.
- The Beverly, Mass., native ranks fifth on the team with seven points (6g, 1a).
SCHROEDER CONTINUES TO SHINE
- Junior Corinne Schroeder, named Hockey East Goaltender of the Month on Nov. 1, has yet to allow more than two goals in any of her eight starts this season.
- That strong play continued at Providence on Saturday, as she stopped 26 shots, including all 13 she faced in the opening 20 minutes, to help BU earn a 2-1 victory.
- She owns a .950 save percentage, which ranks fourth in the country.
- Schroeder also boasts a top-10 goals-against average in the NCAA at 1.37.
- She has allowed just four even-strength goals over her last five starts and just seven such goals total.
DEFENSE IS STINGY
- BU has allowed just 1.60 goals per game, which ranks seventh in the country this season.
- At even strength, BU gives up a mere 1.10 goals per game.
COMPHER MAKES HER SEASON DEBUT
- Junior Jesse Compher made her season debut on Saturday at Providence.
- She had missed the first nine games of the campaign due to injury.
- Despite not recording a point, Compher's impact was felt as she led the team with six shots on goal, won seven faceoffs and finished as a plus-1.
- Compher was one of the best players in the country last year, earning Second Team All-America accolades.
- A top-10 finalist for the Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award, Compher set a program record with 44 assists and also scored 17 goals for 61 points.
MATTIVI GETS ON THE SCORE SHEET
- Freshman defender Nadia Mattivi collected her first collegiate point on Saturday with a beautiful cross-zone pass to set up Julia Nearis' first goal in the Terriers' 2-1 triumph at Providence.
- Mattivi, a plus-3 this season, became the third Terrier rookie to record a point this season.
- She has blocked 10 shots this year and has only been on the ice for two goals against.
