BOSTON – Looking to carry momentum from an 84-70 home win over New Hampshire, the Boston University men's basketball team will open a six-game road trip at South Carolina on Tuesday night with tip-off slated for 7 p.m. 

The matchup marks the opening game of the Cancun Challenge for the Terriers, who will follow up with a trip to the West Virginia on Friday (Nov. 22) and then Mexico for two games against Northern Colorado and Gardner-Webb/Tennessee-Martin on Nov. 26-27.

TERRIER TIDBITS

• In this past Saturday's win over the Wildcats, the Terriers were one point shy of having three men net 20+ points in a game for the first time since a 2010 CBI Quarterfinal postseason win over Morehead State at Case Gym. 
• Sophomore Walter Whyte leads BU at 18.5 ppg with 5.8 rpg and 2.3 spg while shooting 42.9 3FG% from behind the arc.
• Senior Max Mahoney is second in scoring at 11.8 ppg after recording a season-high 20 points against UNH and is also averaging a team-high 7.3 rpg.
• Junior Javante McCoy reached double figures for the first time this year with 20 vs. UNH to average 9.8 ppg after totaling 50 points in two 2019 Patriot League tournament games.
• BU has used the same starting lineup all four games.
• The Terriers are averaging 72.3 ppg and 46.2 FG% while holding opponents to 66.8 ppg and 45.2 FG%.
• BU is seeking its first-ever win against the Southeastern Conference ... Its win against current member Texas A&M took place in 1986-87 when the Aggies were in the Southwest Conference.
• The Terriers are visiting the Palmetto State for the first time since earning a win at Coastal Carolina in 2012.

SCOUTING SOUTH CAROLINA

• After posting 16-16 record last season with 11-7 conference mark, South Carolina has opened the new season outscoring its first three opponents (North Alabama, Wyoming and Cleveland State) at home by an average of 27.7 ppg while holding them to 29.1 FG%.
• 6-foot-6 forward AJ Lawson leads the Gamecocks at 16.0 ppg while 6-foot-3 guard Jair Bolden averages 12.3 ppg.
• 6-foot-7 forward Alanzo Frank (9.0 rpg) averages 6.3 rpg to help USC out-rebound opponents by 11.7 rpg.
• The Gamecocks are forcing opponents to average 20.7 turnovers per game so far. 
• South Carolina head coach Frank Martin led the team to the 2017 Final Four and is quite familiar with the Terriers, as he was the assistant at Northeastern from 2000-04 before leaving to be an assistant at Cincinnati ... He earned a win against BU during the 2009 Puerto Rico Tip-Off while head coach at Kansas State.
