
No. 9 BU, No. 8 BC to Begin Home-and-Home Series Friday Night

The No. 9 Boston University women's ice hockey team will begin a home-and-home series with No. 8 Boston College on Friday night when the Terriers welcome the Eagles to Walter Brown Arena at 7 p.m. The two teams will then face off in Chestnut Hill on Saturday at 1:30. Both contests will be televised live on NESNplus.
HISTORY WITH THE EAGLES
- This weekend will feature be the 58th and 59th all-time meetings between the two B-line rivals.
- BU is 19-31-7 all-time against the Eagles, including two victories during the 2018-19 regular season.
- Last year marked the first time that BU swept a weekend series with the Eagles.
LAST TIME AGAINST BC
- The Terriers held a 2-1 lead over the Eagles after 40 minutes, but BC scored three times in the third period to earn a 4-2 triumph at Walter Brown Arena on Nov. 15.
- Junior Kristina Schuler scored both Terrier goals while senior Deziray De Sousa dished out two assists.
- Freshman Julia Nearis and junior Nara Elia each added an assist.
- Junior Corinne Schroeder made 26 saves and allowed just one even-strength goal.
BEST OF BU AGAINST BC
- Thirteen different Terriers have recorded a point against BC, led by redshirt senior Sammy Davis' 12 points.
- Davis has tallied three goals and a team-high nine assists against the Eagles.
- Junior Jesse Compher (3g, 6a) is next with nine points, just ahead of senior Abby Cook's four points (4g, 4a).
- Cook's four goals leads the squad.
- Senior Deziray De Sousa (2g, 4a) and junior Nara Elia (1g, 5a) each have six points, followed by junior Kristina Schuler (2g, 1a) and senior Natasza Tarnowski (2a).
EYE ON THE EAGLES
- BC faced the top two teams in the nation this past weekend in Nashville, earning a 2-2 tie with No. 1 Minnesota before falling to No. 2 Wisconsin, 5-3.
- The Eagles are 1-3-1 since their win at BU on Nov. 15.
- Freshman Hannah Bilka (11g, 12a) and sophomore Kelly Browne (7g, 16a) are tied for fourth in the conference and first on the team with 23 points.
- Bilka leads all NCAA rookies in points and goals.
- Eight different Eagles have at least 10 points this year.
- Sophomore goaltender Maddy McArthur has started 14 games for BC, posting a 9-3-2 record with a .932 save percentage, 2.05 goals-against average and two shutouts.
USUALLY A CLOSE ONE
- The last 14 regular-season meetings between BU and BC have been decided by two goals or fewer.
- Five of those 14 games were two-goal contests, but only one of those five games did not include an empty-net marker to produce the two-goal margin.
POWER SURGE
- BU has scored on eight of its last 10 power plays over the last three games.
- The Terriers are third in the nation on the power play this season at 29.5%.
- Since Nov. 1, the Terriers have converted on 35.5% of their power-play chances, which is second-best in the country in that span.
