Terriers Travel to Army for Wednesday Morning Tip-Off

BOSTON – Concluding a two-game road trip, the Boston University men's basketball team will visit Army West Point on Wednesday morning with tip-off slated for 11 a.m.

TERRIER TIDBITS
  • BU is coming off Saturday's hard-fought 82-76 loss at PL leader Bucknell in which junior Max Mahoney earned his fifth double-double of the season with 16 points and 10 rebounds ... He currently leads the team at 16.6 ppg and 6.1 rpg while shooting 63.0 FG%, the nation's 11th best mark.
  • Junior Tyler Scanlon has reached double figures in a personal-best seven straight games to rank second on the team at 14.0 ppg while averaging 5.3 rpg ... He also remains the team leader in assists (3.0 apg) and steals (1.1 spg) while shooting 45.9 FG%.
  • Sophomore Javante McCoy tallied a season-high 19 points against the Bison this past weekend with the help of a career-high five 3-pointers ... He's shooting 37.8 3FG% and is third on the team in scoring at 11.2 ppg.
  • In conference play, sophomore Andrew Petcash and freshman Jonas Harper are a combined 28-of-59 (.474) from behind the arc and are averaging a combined 10.7 ppg.
  • BU is 6-8 on the road this season with a 2-4 conference mark featuring wins at Colgate (76-68) and Navy (75-69).
  • The Terriers are averaging 72.2 ppg and rank 53rd nationally at 47.2 FG% while holding opponents to 72.1 ppg and 46.2 FG%.
SCOUTING ARMY
  • The Black Knights are 6-6 in conference play but have dropped their last four games with losses to American (71-68), Holy Cross (56-42), Lehigh (75-70) and Colgate (76-56) following a four-game win streak.
  • Army is 8-3 at Christl Arena compared to its 3-9 road mark with non-conference wins against Marist, Binghamton and Fairfield ... The two conference losses were against the top two teams in the standings in Bucknell and Lehigh.
  • 6-foot-9 forward Matt Wilson averages a team-high 13.6 ppg and 8.6 rpg while shooting 56.7 percent from the field, 41st-best mark nationally.
  • 6-foot-0 guard Tommy Funk is the second Black Knight in double figures at 11.6 ppg while also ranking 21st in assists (6.1 apg).
  • BU's perimeter defense will be tested, as Army ranks 17th in 3-point field goal attempts ... The Black Knights also rank 32nd in assists (15.9 apg) and 34th in assist-turnover ratio (1.34).
  • Army averages 70.9 ppg and 42.5 FG% while holding opponents to 71.6 ppg and 45.7 FG%.
SERIES HISTORY
  • The Terriers lead the all-time series, 17-10, with the first meeting occurring in 1954-55.
  • The Black Knights won the first meeting, 86-82, back on Jan. 9 at Case Gym ... Trailing 33-28 at the half, BU shot 61.8 FG% in the second stanza but wasn't able to overcome Army's 11-7 advantage in made 3-pointers ... The Terriers featured 49 points off the bench with Jonas Harper posting a team-high 15 points.
  • In the previous matchup in West Point, Army led by one with 30 seconds left and had the ball, but Scanlon swiped it away on the in-bounds, and sophomore Walter Whyte hit a layup with the free throw at 11.7 seconds to help the Terriers escape with the 61-59 win ... BU shot 51.3 FG% compared to Army's 31.4 FG% but had 24 turnovers to keep the game close.
