The Boston University men's lacrosse team will host its 2019 home opener on Saturday when the Terriers welcome Dartmouth to Nickerson Field. Game time is set for 12 p.m.

Saturday's game is part of City of Boston Day at BU. Boston residents will receive complimentary admission to all six ticketed Terrier events on campus that day, thanks to BU's Office of Government & Community Affairs and the Department of Athletics. The men's lacrosse game is the first of those six ticketed tilts to be played at BU on Saturday.

Any fan who attends all six games will be eligible to enter to win a $500 Visa gift card. Fans must utilize the free Terrier Rewards Zone app and check-in once inside each venue during the games to be eligible for the gift card as well as to earn additional prizes.

HOME SWEET HOME

  • BU is 5-0 against non-conference opponents at Nickerson Field dating back to the start of 2017.
  • The Terriers won both of their non-league tilts at Nickerson during the 2018 season, including a 10-4 triumph over Dartmouth.

SCOUTING THE BIG GREEN

  • Dartmouth will be making its 2019 debut on Saturday afternoon.
  • The Big Green went 2-11 last year, with both wins coming at home.
  • Dartmouth returns its top goal scorer in Ben Martin (26 goals) as well as leading point producer George Prince (34 points).
  • Prince also led the Big Green with 18 assists during the 2018 campaign.
  • George Christopher posted an 11.31 goals-against average and a .513 save percentage in six games last season.
  • Alex Burnley played 10 games last year, recording a 15.48 GAA and a .392 save percentage.
  • Burnley made 11 saves in the Terriers' 10-4 win over the Big Green last year.

SUCCESS IN HOME OPENERS

  • BU has won each of its last four home openers.
  • That includes the 2015 season in which BU defeated Mercer, 18-6, at the Harvard Stadium bubble before defeating Canisius, 13-9, in its true home opener at Nickerson Field.
  • The Terriers are 18-11 at home since the start of the 2015 campaign.

RECAPPING THE OHIO STATE GAME

  • The Terriers suffered a 17-10 setback at No. 15/16 Ohio State on Saturday indoors at the Woody Hayes Athletic Center.
  • Senior James Burr recorded a program-record six goals, including a run of four unanswered in the third quarter to cut an 11-3 deficit to 11-7 with 9:19 to go in the frame.
  • The Terriers got as close as 12-8 in that third quarter before the Buckeyes pulled away.
  • Sophomore Chris Gray recorded five points thanks to a goal and four assists.
  • Senior Brendan Homire matched a career high with three assists.
  • Junior Reece Eddy caused two turnovers and added three ground balls.
  • Freshmen Timmy Ley and Jake Cates each recorded their first collegiate goals, with Cates adding a career-high three caused turnovers.
  • Junior Chase Levesque also forced three turnovers in addition to collecting the first assist of his collegiate career.
  • Freshman Jack Collins also found the back of the net while junior Jared Nugent notched his first assist as a Terrier.

HAPPY TO HELP

  • BU assisted on nine of its 10 goals last weekend at Ohio State.
  • Sophomore Chris Gray (4a) and senior Brendan Homire  (3a) combined for seven of those helpers.
  • That is the highest percentage of assisted goals (90%) by the Terriers since they assisted on all six goals at Lehigh on April 1, 2017.

BURR SCORES 100TH GOAL IN CAREER DAY

  • Senior James Burr scored his 100th goal on Feb. 9 at Ohio State.
  • He finished the game with a career-best six goals, a total that matches a program record set by Jack Wilson ('18) in 2015.
  • Wilson ('18) is the only other Terrier with 100 goals; he finished his storied BU career with 108 goals.
  • Burr is now at 105 goals and has a good chance to move to the top of the program record books against Dartmouth.
  • The Hamilton, Massachusetts, native is also third in career points with 131 (105g, 26a), trailing only Wilson (170 points) and 2017 graduate Cal Dearth (153 points).
  • He enters Saturday on an 19-game goal streak, fourth-longest in the nation.
  • It is the longest such streak among Patriot League players.
