WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – Facing Hartford for the first time in program history, the Hawks proved no match for the Boston University women's lacrosse team as the Terriers pounded out a 20-2 victory Saturday morning at Al-Mazook Field.
Kailey Conry notched 11 points on the day, one shy of her own program record, on four goals and five assists, while 11 different Terriers found the back of the net.
How It Happened
- Kelly Mathews and Conry laced unassisted goals in the opening two minutes, forcing Hartford to burn an early timeout to attempt to slow BU's attack.
- Kaitlin Belval and Ava Barry kept the high-octane offense rolling, combining for three straight strikes to push the Terriers command to 6-1 just 10 minutes into action.
- Conry played a hand in the next four points for the Terriers, finding Hannah Kenneally twice while netting a pair of goals of her own.
- Following a score by Makenzie Irvine, Conry struck with her fourth goal of the first half to put the running clock on, while Ava Barry capped a 7-0 run to close the half to put the score in favor of the Terriers, 13-2.
- Megan Hickey kept the momentum rolling by opening the first half with her first career goal before Ryann Gaffney followed with her first goal of the season.
- Maddie MacMaster and Caroline Pino netted the final goals of the day, while the Terrier defense held Hartford scoreless in the second half.
